A 58-year-old woman lost her left eye due to Aspergillus panophthalmitis four months after excision of a pterygium. The patient had received postoperative beta radiation and developed a scleral ulcer in the area of treatment from which no organisms could be cultured on two occasions. Because of the difficulty of diagnosing superficial mycotic infections of the eye, and because the treatment of so-called radiation scleritis may worsen fungal infections, ophthalmologists need to be aware of the potential infectious complications associated with the treatment of pterygia.

CASE REPORT: Primary intraocular lymphoma arose over a period of 9 months in the left eye of an 81-year-old woman who was blind in both eyes from temporal arteritis. During this period, she was treated with prednisone and methotrexate. Following a sudden total hyphema, the eye was enucleated. Examination revealed that, in addition to iris neovascularisation and central retinal artery occlusion, the neurosensory retina was replaced by atypical lymphocytes.

OBJECTIVE: To document clinical pattern of retinoblastoma in Pakistani population.
METHODS: This retrospective study, which was conducted at Department of Ophthalmology, Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, reviewed clinical records of patients with retinoblastoma from 1997 to 2012. Staging of disease was done by referring to retinal diagrams, RetCam images, and first magnetic resonance imaging. Ophthalmic notes, imaging reports and histopathology reports of enucleated eyes established optic nerve involvement. SPSS 21 was used for statistical analysis.

OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate an unusual case of necrotizing scleritis in ulcerative colitis successfully managed by a combination of a Prokera implant and processed pericardium.
METHODS: A case report of a novel approach to treat scleral melts that may be seen in several clinical situations.
RESULTS: The dual use of amniotic membrane material (Prokera) with processed tuttoplast for necrotizing scleritis salvaged the eye without the need for enucleation while also preserving most of the vision.

Penetrating globe injury can lead to serious vision loss and even loss of the eye. Intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) are a major cause of traumatic globe injury commonly seen in work-related accidents. We present a unique case of a large IOFB that was fully embedded within the choroid, where enucleation was pursued due to inability to safely remove the IOFB.

Retrobulbar injection of 1.0-2.5% aminazin solution in terminal painful glaucoma helps avoid enucleation in 83.8% of cases. The analgesic effect of retrobulbar aminazin does not always accurately correlate with its hypotensive action on the intraocular pressure.
