This case report describes a boy who presented to the hospital with worsening facial rash and fevers. He had previously been prescribed mometasone cream for rosacea, which his mother applied daily for about 45 days. After a biopsy was performed, he was diagnosed with acneiform dermatitis likely secondary to topical corticosteroid use complicated by demodex folliculitis and a superimposed bacterial infection.

Even a half of diabetic patients are suffering from skin troubles. Hyperglykemia causes skin changes leading to higher incidence of bacterial and mycotic infections, provokes skin degenerative processes, macro- and microangiopathy and neuropathy. Diabetic dermopathy, rubeosis, bullousis and scleredema are based on these changes. Other skin diseases including necrobiosis lipoidica, granuloma anulare, vitiligo, perforating folliculitis accompany diabetes frequently but their etiopathogenesis is not clear.

Diseases of seborrhoic origin include rosacea, acne, gram-negative folliculitis, demodex-folliculorum, perioral dermatitis as well as seborrhoic dermatitis. An important prerequisite for adequate therapy is the knowledge of these different diseases. Unfortunately, topic steroids are often applied, resulting in well known corticosteroid side-effects like skin atrophy and teleangiectasias. The different clinical diseases of seborrhoic origin are reviewed here and a treatment guide is presented.
