[A rare localization of erysipeloid].

A female patient aged 56 is described, suffering from a cutaneoarticular form of erysipeloid, that developed after application of raw fat at the site of injury to the third toe of the left foot. The process completely regressed within a week after a single intake of sulfalene in a dose of 2.0 g.

[Skin and nail changes in foot deformities].

Hallux valgus leads to lateral deviation of the big toe's longitudinal axis. In consequence, the forces working on the tip of the toe during unrolling of the foot are shifted in medial direction. As a result, subungual clavi, unguis incarnatus, unguis convolutus, or laterally turning onychogryposis like a cork-screw develop.

Juvenile plantar dermatosis. A clinicopathologic study.

Fifty-six patients had juvenile plantar dermatosis (JPD). The plantar surface of the toes and the anterior third of the sole were the sites most commonly affected. Less commonly affected were the dorsal surface of the toes and the fingertips. No seasonal variation was found, and treatment was generally ineffective. Preventative measures had no influence on the course of the condition. Histopathologic features included psoriasiform acanthosis, with focal loss of granular cell layer, and uniform parakeratosis. Distinctive features included a tendency for the dermal infiltrate to localize around

Cholestrol and cholesteryl ester content in normal and pathologic scale.

Using a sensitive new assay, we have measured the cholesteryl ester and cholesterol contents of stratum corneum from callus, normal skin, psoriatic lesions (plantar and nonplantar), and lamellar ichthyotic lesions (plantar and nonplantar). Cholesteryl ester content of normal stratum corneum was significantly higher than that of callus, suggesting that callus was not a suitable control tissue for further biochemical studies involving sterol content of stratum corneum. Both psoriatic and lamellar ichthyotic scale have increased levels of free cholesterol and decreased levels of esterified choles

Tuberculosis verrucosa cutis (TBVC)--foot with miliary tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis Verrucosa Cutis (TBVC) or warty tuberculosis is a variant of cutaneous tuberculosis in patients with good cell mediated immunity (CMI) to Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, while Miliary Tuberculosis is associated with very poor CMI. Two widely different clinical presentations in the same patient are very rare and being reported.

Perforating granuloma annulare in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Immunohistologic evaluation of the cellular infiltrate.

The inflammatory infiltrate found in the lesions of perforating granuloma annulare in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome was analyzed. Double labeling with fluorescent antibody tags fluorescein isothiocyanate-Leu 4 (peripheral T cells) and phycoerythrin-Leu 2a (cytotoxic/suppressor) revealed the infiltrate to consist predominantly of cytotoxic/suppressor T cells. This finding is a reflection of the patient's altered immune status and calls into question the role of specific T-cell subsets in the pathogenesis of granuloma annulare.

[Secondary changes in the bones of the foot in lupus vulgaris].

The case of a seventy-year old lady is presented who, forty-five years ago, had dermal tuberculosis of the left lower limb and foot. After removal of the infected skin areas with an electric cauter the patient developed massive skin indurations, besides the typical scarification. Actual X-rays showed a decrease in seize of metatarsal bones and digits without lytic or porotic signs. Furthermore, dorsal luxation of the digits was visible. These alterations were interpreted as secondary bone remodelling resulting from long-term traction due to the extensive scarring.

Number of Affected Nails Is the Primary Determinant of Efinaconazole 10% Solution Usage for Onychomycosis.

Good adherence to treatment is necessary for the successful treatment of onychomycosis and requires that an appropriate amount of medication be prescribed. Most prescriptions for efinaconazole 10% solution, a topical azole antifungal, are for 4 mL per month but there are no data on patient factors or disease characteristics that impact how much medication is needed. Data from two phase 3 studies of efinaconazole 10% solution for the treatment of toenail onychomycosis were pooled and analyzed to determine monthly medication usage based on the number of affected toenails, percent involvement of

Erythema Pernio-Like in Four Adolescents in the Era of the Coronavirus-2 Infection.

BACKGROUND: Although epidemic, novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection rarely affects the pediatric population. However, in the last months, an increasing number of Italian pediatricians have reported the occurrence of erythema pernio-like in children following a flu-like syndrome, after the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection. OBJECTIVE: The study aims to report cutaneous manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 infection in 4 adolescents. METHODS: Observational study reporting 4 adolescents with skin lesions, 2 weeks after the occurrence of a flu-like syndrome. RESULTS: Fourteen days after a flu-like sy
