Cesarean section in women with placenta previa is associated with the risk of heavy bleeding. We describe a new method where local hemostasis is obtained by applying a hemostatic fleece directly onto the lower uterine segment. During a 2-year period women undergoing cesarean section due to placenta previa were treated with this hemostatic fleece if they had ongoing bleeding during the surgical procedure despite routine treatment. The pattern of time courses of changes in the basic parameters of homeostasis has been studied in premature neonates with respiratory disorders of varying severity in early neonatality. It is shown that in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome, all links of the hemostatic system occur and the activity of the major pool of anticoagulants (antithrombin III and protein C) decreases. The most informative indices are proposed for monitoring hemostatic parameters as determination of basic tests, the levels of protein C, D-dimer, and SFMC.

The authors have investigated the changes of some haemostatic variables at 33 women, who used low-dosed oral contraceptive REGULON--Gedeon Richter in the duration of six months. Statistically significant decrease is found in the activity of Protein S and Protein C, but plasminogen level is increased. The levels of the other variables remained in referential ranges. The use of REGULON doesn't influence the coagulation system.

High-dose intravenous immunoglobulins (ivIG) were used in a 57-year-old patient with acquired von Willebrand disease in order to correct a hemostatic defect before pneumonectomy for lung carcinoma. IvIG induced a rapid and complete correction of factor VIII (F VIII) and von Willebrand factor (vWF) and allowed surgery without additional factor coverage.
