BACKGROUND: Gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTDs) are characterized by vascular abnormalities of the trophoblast, but their pathogenesis is unknown. Angiogenin (ANG) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, which are molecules implicated in the angiogenic process, may play some role in this process.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the value of laparoscopic surgery in the diagnosis of suspected gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) cases with uterine mass.
METHODS: The clinical characteristics of patients underwent laparoscopic surgery for a suspected diagnosis of GTN with uterine mass in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from November 2009 to November 2014 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. A case of radiologically identified molar invasion into extensive arteriovenous shunts (AVSs) is described. CT and MRI revealed a large uterine mass, accompanied by multiple AVSs. Dynamic MRI and pelvic angiography demonstrated multiple trophoblastic cysts invading into the AVSs. Resected specimen confirmed the diagnosis of invasive mole. Dynamic MRI was very useful in determining the etiology of AVS.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of selective arterial embolization in the management of internal bleeding caused by trophoblastic diseases.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Four patients with internal bleeding caused by trophoblastic diseases were diagnosed with arteriography and treated with selective arterial embolization as a life-saving measure. Effect of controlling bleeding was assessed by follow-up arteriogram and clinical observation.

Large dosage of 5-fluorouracil given by slow intravenous infusion has proved to be very effective in the treatment of gestational trophoblastic neoplasms. From 1965 through 1975, 5-fluorouracil was used as a single chemotherapeutic agent in 173 cases of invasive mole and 139 cases of choriocarcinoma. OBJECTIVE: To show the possibility of new invasive mole arising after 2 years of menopause, after choriocarcinoma cured by chemotherapy 5 years ago.
SETTING: Trofoblastic disease center (TDC), Prague, Institution for care of mother and child, Prague.
CASE REPORT: Patient 50-years-old with choriocarcinoma, in consequence to invasive mole, was cured by chemotheraphy. After 5 years of clinical and laboratory remission and after two years of menopause new pregnancy with invasive mole arised imitating relapse of choriocarcinoma.

We report an unusual case of invasive mole metastasized to the urinary bladder. The patient presented with hematuria one month after evacuation of a molar pregnancy. The serum chorionic gonadotropin levels regressed spontaneously following transurethral cystoscopic resection of the tumour. Metastasis of an invasive mole to the urinary bladder has not been previously reported.
