[Intentional normovolemic hemodilution in the medical treatment of lower limb arteritis].

Thirty patients suffering from arterial occlusive disease (stages II, III or IV of Fontaine's classification) were treated by isovolaemic haemodilution (IDH). Most of these patients received conventional medical treatment without success (negative selection). Angiography was performed on all patients prior to treatment. 500 ml of whole blood was withdrawn from each patient. 250 ml of dextran 40 mixed with 250 ml of 5% albumin solution was injected intravenously to avoid hypovolaemia. This procedure, carried out three or four times, was repeated until a haematocrit of 0.30 was reached. This hae

National Clinician Survey of Outcomes for Trials in Surgical Wounds Healing by Secondary Intention (SWHSI).

Surgical wounds healing by secondary intention are often complex, costly and slow to heal. Consistent outcome reporting ensures that interventional trials are directly comparable and less vulnerable to reporting bias, thereby enhancing the efficiency of evidence generation. Currently, no framework for outcome reporting from interventional studies of SWHSI exists. We present a national survey of clinicians as the first step to producing a core outcome set for studies involving interventions for this wound type. A pre-piloted online survey was administered in September 2024 via the Qualtrics sys…

Ornamental motifs and visual concerns: Exploring aesthetic pleasure and conservation intention in architectural heritage renovation.

In the ongoing efforts of architectural heritage renovation, ornamental motifs serve not only as aesthetic embellishments but also as carriers of cultural symbolism. However, how their visual perception influences public aesthetic judgments and conservation intentions remains underexplored. This study focuses on two types of culturally embedded motifs - the native Chinese dragon and the imported lion - and examines their impact under two visual forms (2D and 3D) within a 2 × 2 experimental framework. A combination of eye-tracking measures and questionnaire assessments was employed with a sampl…

Evaluative and emotional routes to audience intention in musical-theater singing: An integrated response architecture.

Audience responses to vocal performances involve complex psychological processes beyond general aesthetic liking. However, less is known about how vocal appraisal, perceived emotional meaning, and future engagement intention are related. This study examined how technical-expressive perception (TEP), emotional perception (EP), and audience intention (AI) are related in responses to musical-theater singing. We used a single-wave survey of 306 adult musical-theater listeners in China to test their associations and compare them across attendance-frequency groups. Technical-expressive perception wa…

Perceived integration as a gratification facilitator: psychological drivers of students' continuance intention in blended learning.

What sustains students' intention to continue using educational technology? In blended learning, prior research identifies satisfaction as a key predictor of continuance intention but often treats it as a single construct and pays limited attention to the environmental conditions that enable different forms of gratification. This study extends Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT) in two ways. First, it introduces perceived integration as an environmental antecedent of gratification. Perceived integration captures the coherence students perceive between online and offline learning components an…

AIM: To examine the associations among nurses' perceived leadership behavior, job satisfaction, and turnover intention in Saudi Arabia and to determine whether perceived leadership behavior mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention. BACKGROUND: Nurses' turnover intention remains a major challenge for healthcare systems worldwide. High turnover contributes to nursing shortages, negatively affects patient outcomes, and increases healthcare costs. Although job satisfaction is a well-established predictor of turnover intention, limited research has explored the pot…

Examining car drivers' intention to pay for traffic safety improvement: an integrated TPB-HBM framework.

Understanding whether road users are willing to financially support road safety improvement is important for designing feasible and socially acceptable traffic safety policies, especially in resource-constrained urban contexts. This study examines car drivers' intention to pay (ITP) for traffic safety improvement in Peshawar, Pakistan, by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Health Belief Model (HBM). A face-to-face survey of 554 car drivers was conducted, and the proposed framework was tested using covariance-based structural equation modeling. The results show that attitu…

Intention to vaccinate children against measles: findings from a national survey in the United States.

BACKGROUND: The United States is currently experiencing the largest surge of measles cases since 2000, with over 2855 cases reported across the country since January 2025. Though the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is recognized as the most effective protection against measles, rates of MMR coverage among children under the age of five have declined in several US states. Across the US, attitudes towards measles and intention to vaccinate are not well understood. METHODS: We conducted a nationally representative survey assessing measles knowledge, attitudes, and intention to vaccinat…

A physiologically inspired meta-pattern generator bridging intention and motor primitives for human voluntary locomotion.

Understanding the hierarchical organization and transmission characteristics of neural signals-from motor intention, through spinal integration, to lower limb joint motions-is critical for developing physiologically plausible, intention-driven motion generation models. Such models not only advance our comprehension of the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying lower limb locomotion but also provide a biological foundation for the direct neural control of lower limb prostheses and rehabilitation robots, offering both theoretical significance and practical utility. This challenge has persisted…

The role of self-stigma in mediating the association between externalizing and treatment-seeking intention.

INTRODUCTION: Self-stigma occurs when an individual internalizes and accepts the stereotypes and negative views of mental illness endorsed by the public. High levels of self-stigma negatively predict treatment-seeking intention, but little work has examined how self-stigma functions specifically among individuals with tendencies toward impulsivity. METHODS: The current study implemented structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate whether self-stigma as operationalized by the MHSIS model mediated the relationship between externalizing proneness and the intention to seek mental health tre…
