METHODS: Seventy-two eyes of 72 patients diagnosed as PAC, having occludable angles with evidence of closure, but no ocular hypertension, were studied. PURPOSE: To summarize the design and methodology of a large-scale trial in southern China, the Zhongshan Angle Closure Prevention (ZAP) trial. This trial will determine if laser iridotomy (LI) is superior to no treatment for managing Chinese people who are Primary Angle Closure Suspects (PACS). PURPOSE: To examine complications, visual outcomes, photic patient-reported symptoms, corneal morphology, IOL tilt, and intraocular pressure after implantation of an intraocular lens (IOL) and iris prosthesis (IP) following iridocyclectomy.

Glaucoma is one of the most frequent causes of blindness in the world. Although there are several different subforms of glaucoma, their final common pathway is an atrophy of the optic disc leading to progressive visual field defects and finally total blindness. The loss of function in glaucoma is irreversible, i.e. early detection of the disease is the most important part of its therapy.
