OBJECTIVE: To describe the long-term histologic and intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering effects of diode laser transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (TSCP) on the normal equine eye.
ANIMALS: Eight normal adult horses.
PROCEDURES: TSCP was performed in one randomly assigned eye. Sixty spots were treated at settings of 1500 ms and 1500 mW. This paper presents the results of a prospective study on argon laser trabeculoplasty with clinical application in 166 cases up to now. So far, patients have been followed up for between 2 and 12 months. Low-intensity coagulation was performed over 360 degrees of the trabecular meshwork. The authors' own clinical observations have shown that a pressure-lowering effect in secondary glaucomas resistant to therapy can be obtained by photocoagulation of the pars plicata of the ciliary body using an argon laser.
