The spread of the Dengue virus over the world, as well as multiple outbreaks of different serotypes, has resulted in a large number of deaths and a medical emergency, as no viable medications to treat Dengue virus patients have yet been found. In this paper, we provide an in silico virtual screening and molecular dynamics-based analysis to uncover efficient Dengue infection inhibitors. Based on a Google search and literature mining, a large phytochemical library was generated and employed as ligand molecules. In this investigation, the protein target NS2B/NS3 from Dengue was employed, and arou

Non-Medical Strategies to Improve Pregnancy Outcomes of Women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A literature review.

This review aimed to examine the literature related to non-medical strategies used to improve pregnancy outcomes of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and to determine the risk of bias of the selected studies. Treatment for GDM is changing due to the increased prevalence of GDM-related maternal and neonatal complications. A growing body of evidence suggests that early detection, aggressive monitoring and management of GDM using non-medical strategies can greatly improve outcomes for pregnant women and their babies. Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection-Associated Bacteremia: Proper Antibiotic Management.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is of great value in the medical field as an effective means for the treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer and precancerous lesions. However, due to its technical difficulty and long procedure time, ESD is prone to complications such as perforation, bleeding, and infection. In particular, perforation facilitates the entry of pathogenic microorganisms into the blood circulation through iatrogenic wounds, increasing the risk of bacteremia, which may lead to serious adverse events such as peritonitis and septic shock. SUMMARY: This narrativ

Raynaud's Phenomenon of the Nipple: Epidemiological, Clinical, Pathophysiological, and Therapeutic Characterization.

Raynaud's phenomenon of the nipple is a possible cause of pain and breastfeeding cessation in lactating women. However, there are still few studies on the characterization of this manifestation. Thus, we aim to develop a systematic review of the literature carried out between January 1992 and January 2024 in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Virtual Health Library (VHL), and Portal de Periódicos da CAPES. Of the 438 articles, 19 met the eligibility criteria. The findings were divided by heuristic questions into two groups: "Epidemiological, pathophysiological, and clinical characterization of Ra

Synthetic development of a broadly neutralizing antibody against snake venom long-chain α-neurotoxins.

Snakebite envenoming is a major global public health concern for which improved therapies are urgently needed. The antigenic diversity present in snake venom toxins from various species presents a considerable challenge to the development of a universal antivenom. Here, we used a synthetic human antibody library to find and develop an antibody that neutralizes long-chain three-finger α-neurotoxins produced by numerous medically relevant snakes. Our antibody bound diverse toxin variants with high affinity, blocked toxin binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in vitro, and protected mic

Current Advances in Japanese Encephalitis Virus Drug Development.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) belongs to the Flaviviridae family and is a representative mosquito-borne flavivirus responsible for acute encephalitis and meningitis in humans. Despite the availability of vaccines, JEV remains a major public health threat with the potential to spread globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are an estimated 69,000 cases of JE each year, and this figure is probably an underestimate. The majority of JE victims are children in endemic areas, and almost half of the surviving patients have motor or cognitive sequelae. Thus, the absence o
