Surfactant solutions have been frequently studied for soil remediation. However, since they are expensive, massive consumption of surfactant solution can constrain their application. Carbon disulfide (CS2) negatively impacts male sexual function and sperm quality. We propose an efficient method to convert CS2 into dithiocarbamic acid using electrospray ionization, achieving up to 96.7% conversion. Protonated CS2 intermediates (SCSH+) contribute to capturing CO2 in amine reactions. Moreover, the reaction efficiently converts CS2 from ethanol solution using microbubble bursting. This study lays the groundwork for accurate CS2 detection.

Four dogs with an accessory spleen are described. The accessory spleens appeared as a round-to-triangular structure located in the perisplenic area. They were homogeneous and isoechoic with the adjacent spleen. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound was performed using a second generation microbubble contrast medium (sulfur hexafluoride). The type and timing of enhancement of the accessory spleen was similar to that of the parent spleen. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound is a noninvasive modality useful in distinguishing an accessory spleen from a mass of another origin.

A 70-year-old woman without any history of pulmonary or cardiac disease developed breathlessness with severe arterial hypoxemia. Cardiac ultrasound examination and spirometry were normal. Cardiac catheterization and intravenous microbubble injection demonstrated an interatrial right-to-left shunt. The defect was closed surgically, and the patient recovered immediately. On surgery, the aorta was elongated, inducing an angulation of the interatrial septum and leading to the atrial septal defect just above the inferior vena cava.

This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of using refrigerated versus pre-warmed media for preparing time-lapse dishes in in vitro fertilization (IVF). Pancreatic splenosis is a very rare condition whose features on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) have not, to our knowledge, been previously reported. Splenic hamartoma is a rare benign tumor of the spleen. It is usually found incidentally at autopsy or splenectomy. We report a case of splenic hamartoma that was discovered during medical workup for vague upper abdominal pain. Abdominal sonography demonstrated a well-demarcated, slightly hypoechoic splenic solid mass; the mass was markedly enhanced on color Doppler sonography after injection of microbubble contrast agent. This finding may help to distinguish splenic hamartomas from other relatively common splenic tumors, such as hemangiomas or metastases.
