Investigation of enamel surface changes in teeth with artificially produced white spot lesions after debonding: an in vitro study.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate enamel surface changes after debonding of teeth with metal and ceramic brackets exhibiting varying severities of white spot lesions (WSLs). METHODS: Forty healthy premolars were divided into two groups based on the use of metal or ceramic brackets. Mild and severe lesions were established to examine the effects of WSLs on enamel damage and bracket type. All the teeth were subjected to the same bonding protocol. The cavitation areas on the enamel surface were examined using stereomicroscopy before application (T0), after debonding (T1), and after fin

Retention procedures for stabilising tooth position after treatment with orthodontic braces.

BACKGROUND: Without a phase of retention after successful orthodontic treatment, teeth tend to 'relapse', that is, to return to their initial position. Retention is achieved by fitting fixed or removable retainers to provide stability to the teeth while avoiding damage to teeth and gums. Removable retainers can be worn full- or part-time. Retainers vary in shape, material, and the way they are made. Adjunctive procedures are sometimes used to try to improve retention, for example, reshaping teeth where they contact ('interproximal reduction'), or cutting fibres around teeth ('percision'). This

Orthodontic Treatment of an Adult Maxillomandibular Protrusion Case with Impacted Mandibular Second Molars Using the Physiologic Anchorage Spee-wire System: a Case Report.

Impaction of mandibular second molars should be resolved as soon as possible once diagnosed, since it may lead to many functional, periodontal, hygienic and endodontic problems. Treatment options for impacted second molars include orthodontic-assisted eruption following surgical exposure, surgical uprighting and, in some cases, surgical extraction with possible subsequent implant placement if the tooth is deemed non-restorable or the patient prefers an implant restoration. This case report describes the orthodontic treatment of a 21-year-old woman with maxillomandibular protrusion and impacted
