Pentoxifylline (PTX) is a methylxanthine compound known to inhibit the production of tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) by monocytic cells. In this study, we found that PTX differentially regulates the production of TNF-alpha and interleukin-6 (IL-6).
