Accessory cavitated uterine malformation (ACUM) is a para-uterine lesion near the round ligament. An 11-year-old who presented with an acute abdomen underwent laparotomy revealed an adnexal mass with a gangrenous ovary; en bloc resection was done. Histopathology showed an endometrium-lined cavity with a myometrial mantle. Any lateralized cyclical pain and a para-uterine mass should be suspected for ACUM.

Based on experience with six patients with high bile duct carcinoma, a rational therapeutic approach is proposed. When extent of tumor precludes resection, the authors recommend palliation with a biliary-enteric anastomsis to avoid the complications and inconveniences of long-term transhepatic stenting. This is best accomplished with construction of a left cholangiojejunostomy using the round ligament approach. Temporary bilobar decompression may be necessary in select cases.

After open hip reduction in hip dysplasia, some hips can have persistent instability, even after pelvic and femoral osteotomies as well as capsulorrhaphy. While the diseased ligamentum teres in a dislocated hip is thought to contribute to inadequate reduction, the native ligament is thought to provide some level of stability. As such, the purpose of this study was to investigate the utility of a suture augment that replaces the function of the ligamentum teres to provide added stability. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to assess whether cardinal-uterosacral ligament lateral vaginal cuff angle stitches at the time of total hysterectomy may assist in preventing subsequent apical vault prolapse.
STUDY DESIGN: Total hysterectomies without cuff angle stitches were performed in 7 unembalmed cadavers. Successive hanging weights of 1, 2, 3, and 4 kg were loaded against the vaginal cuff and distances moved were recorded. The same process was repeated after tying bilateral angle stitches.

Chondrolipoangioma is a mesenchymoma primarily composed of cartilage, with adipose tissue and vascular elements present in lesser proportions. Chondrolipoangiomas have been reported to occur in the extremities, chest wall, oral soft tissues, mediastinum, uterus and its round ligament, seminal vesicles, and heart. In this report, the authors present an unusual case in which a chondrolipoangioma caused a brachial plexopathy. To their knowledge, a chondrolipoangioma has never been reported in the neurosurgical literature.

Female sterilization by laparoscopy has become widely accepted throughout the United States and Europe. The failure rate of this procedure is still speculative. In the course of 4200 operative sterilization, 32 failures have been identified and 31 of these have been subsequently evaluated. The most common finding was inadequate or superficial fulguration and resection. Operative errors such as round ligament fulguration were also more common than expected.

Using monoclonal antibody assay techniques estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PgR) were quantitated in female pelvic floor muscles, urogenital ligaments and uterus (myometrium). Receptors were detected in all these structures. In addition qualitative assessment showed distinct nuclear staining in the same structures. ER and PgR were not found in the musculus rectus abdominis with either method. The findings provide a rationale for estrogen treatment in women with urogenital disorders.
