Deaths caused by animal attacks in urban as well as rural areas are rising. With dwindling forest cover and with more interaction of animals with humans in day-to-day life, we need to understand the reasons, manner and causes of these fatal events. We studied 151 cases of fatal animal/human conflicts and in particular, the manner and mechanism of causation of injuries with respect to different types of animals. We evaluated the clinical features and treatment response of patients with muscular sarcoidosis. A retrospective cohort of 12 patients showed muscle weakness in 11 and myalgia in seven. One had focal myositis. Four had a negative medical history for sarcoidosis. Muscle imaging showed muscle edema in all and replacement of muscle tissue by fat in half of patients. We investigated the larvicidal potential of 10 plant essential oils (EOs) against the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus. Among the EOs, larvicidal activity against Ae. albopictus was strongest in those derived from massoia (Massoia aromatica) and nutmeg (Myristica fragrans). BACKGROUND: The Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus is globally expanding and has become the main vector for human arboviruses in Europe. With limited antiviral drugs and vaccines available, vector control is the primary approach to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. A reliable and accurate DNA sequence of the Ae. albopictus genome is essential to develop new approaches that involve genetic manipulation of mosquitoes.

Trichothiodystrophy (TTD), a rare, autosomal recessive, multisystem developmental disorder, is characterized by short, brittle hair with "tiger-tailed banding" on polarized microscopy. RATIONALE: Lhermitte-Duclos disease (LDD), or dysplastic cerebellar gangliocytoma (DCG), is a rare tumor originating from the cerebellar cortex. LDD is a benign neuroglial tumor with uncertain prognosis. Over 200 cases have been reported in the literature mostly in the form of case reports. Thus, we present a spectacular case of LDD with excessive calcification in a female septuagenarian.

Lhermitte-Duclos Disease (LDD) is an extremely rare hamartoma of the cerebellum and is associated with the cancer syndrome Cowden's disease. We report such a patient whose disease was diagnosed incidental to traumatic brain injury. A 40-year-old male presented after fall from stairs. CT scan revealed a large lesion in the right cerebellar hemisphere.
