Inflammatory fibroid polyps (IPF), also called Vanek tumors, are rare, benign lesions of mesenchymal origin. They can affect both sexes with a majority incidence between 50-70 years. We present the case of a 53-year-old woman with an outpatient clinic due to severe iron deficiency anemia, gastroscopy and colonoscopy without relevant findings. A study with capsule endoscopy identify an ulcerated polypoid mass, which caused a slight stenosis of the lumen, allowing the passage of the capsule endoscopy compatible with Vanek's tumor.

Lenticular changes are often seen following electrical injury. We report an unusual case of electrical injury with late spontaneous posterior dislocation of lens nucleus with intact anterior capsule with ruptured posterior capsule in the right eye and anterior subcapsular cataract in the left eye. The right eye was managed with pars plana vitrectomy with cortical matter removal with multipiece intraocular lens insertion in ciliary sulcus. This report adds posterior capsular rupture and posterior dislocation of lens to the usual ocular complications of electrical injury.

UNLABELLED: We describe a new technique for sectioning an intraocular lens (IOL) inside the vitreous cavity. The IOL had a broken haptic and was accidentally luxated after a complicated cataract surgery with posterior capsule rupture. The primary indication to cut the IOL in half inside the vitreous cavity is to preserve the anterior capsule integrity, especially in a small-sized capsulotomy, allowing subsequent implantation of a new IOL in the sulcus with the optical zone captured in the capsulorhexis.

Weill-Marchesani patients with cataractous lenses may presnet a surgical challenge in the presence of zonular weakness and microsherophakia. A 52-year-old Weill-Marchesani patient developed zonular dehiscence during capsule contraction after cataract extraction in her right eye. Use of a poly(methyl methacrylate) capsular tension ring in the second eye facilitated lens removal and intraocular lens placement. Postoperative results suggest the capsular tension ring provides long-term zonular stabilization by maintaining an internal force against the capsule.

This is a report of three cases of complete dislocation of both the radius and ulna at the elbow in infants born with obstetric palsy. All three patients had painless elbow-flexion contractures. Ten normal neonatal hips were examined in stillborn babies. At first, forcible Barlow manoeuvres did not produce subluxation or dislocation, but by repeated examination a previously stable joint could be rendered unstable. Intensity, frequency and extension of an inflammatory reaction of the lymph node capsule (perilymphadenitis) were investigated in nodes draining invasive ductal breast cancer and infiltrating adenocarcinoma of the large bowel. The efficiency of a gelatin capsule containing a nylon string for collection of duodenal specimens was investigated in carriers of Salmonella typhosa (typhi). Cultures of duodenal specimens obtained by means of the string capsule were compared with cultures of duodenal specimens obtained by a conventional duodenal tube and with stool cultures Duodenal contents obtained with either the string or tube were more often positive for S. typhosa than were stool cultures. The string, which is as efficient as tube collection but simpler and more comfortable, may be useful in identifying carriers of S.

Regeneration of lens epithelium on the lens capsule was studied in tissue culture. The entire capsule with attached epithelium was taken from rabbit lenses and from human lenses with cataract. Generally, the epithelium grew in a monolayer but multilayered masses of cells were also seen. Most lens fibers degenerated during the first days and formed spherical membrane enclosed vesicles containing cytoplasm but no nuclei. The lens fiber remnants, together with regenerating epithelium, created structures that were similar in many ways to the clinical appearance of after-cataract.

We present the first molecularly confirmed AE case from Kashmir, India who presented with a hepatic mass mimicking metastatic malignancy.
