Serum gonadotropin, estrogen, and androgen levels were measured in samples obtained from 19 patients with polycystic ovarian disease (PCO) and from 10 normal women on day 2 to 4 of their menstrual cycles. In patients with PCO, the mean (plus or minus S.E.) concentration was significantly higher (P smaller than 0.001) than the concentrations found in the normal subjects for LH (35 plus or minus 4.6 vs. 12.7 plus or minus 2.6 m.I.U. per milliliter), but not for FSH (10.3 plus or minus 0.7 vs. 8.7 plus or minus 0.9 m.I.U. per milliliter). Estrone (E1) levels (92 plus or minus 4 vs. 52 plus or min

The concentrations of FSH, LH, prolactin, oestradiol and progesterone were measured in peripheral plasma and follicular fluid of women throughout the menstrual cycle. With the exception of prolactin, concentrations of pituitary and steroid hormones in follicular fluid correlated with those in peripheral plasma. Follicle-stimulating hormone was present in a greater number of small follicles (smaller than 8mm) during or just after the peaks of FSH in peripheral plasma. During the mid-follicular phase the concentration of both FSH and oestradiol in fluid from large follicles (larger than or equal

BACKGROUND: Menstrual distress is a multifactorial health concern influenced by various biological and psychological determinants. Despite growing interest in menstrual health, the interplay between sociodemographic factors, contraceptive history, and pre-existing health conditions in relation to menstrual distress has not been sufficiently elucidated. This study aimed to examine the associations between age, educational background, occupational status, contraceptive history, type of contraceptive used, and the presence of reproductive or psychiatric disorders with menstrual distress levels am

The complexity of breast cancer cells complicates the process of enhancing our understanding, which may lead to the development of effective therapeutic agents and approaches. Among the novel medical interventions, menstrual blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Mens-MSCs) demonstrate proactive and immunomodulatory interactions with malignant cells. This study aims to evaluate the effects of Mens-MSCs-derived exosomes (MM-Exos) on breast cancer cell behaviors, with particular emphasis on apoptosis, migration, and angiogenesis. MM-Exos were characterized using DLS, flow cytometry, and TEM. Afte

IMPORTANCE: Menstrual-related migraine (MRM) is a prevalent neurological condition affecting females, with prolonged duration, severe symptoms, and poor drug response, significantly impairing their quality of life. Electroacupuncture shows promise as a nonpharmacological intervention for migraine. However, there is a deficiency in high-quality evidence-based research assessing its efficacy in MRM. To address this gap, we present a detailed protocol to evaluate electroacupuncture's therapeutic effects in MRM.
METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A total of 120 participants with MRM will be randomly divided i

OBJECTIVES: Stories of menstrual changes occurring post COVID-19 vaccination have abounded, with many affected persons expressing frustration their concerns were not being heard. In an era where misinformation is rampant and can fuel vaccine hesitancy it is imperative to address and validate community concerns. We aimed to investigate evidence of increased menstrual disturbances associated with COVID-19 vaccination.
METHODS: We adopted a two-pronged approach; firstly, scrutinising social-media for discussions on menstrual changes associated with COVID-19 vaccination using our deep learning fr
