The ability of a ras protein to associate with proteins present in rat brain cytosol in vitro was investigated using chemical cross-linking agents and the 125I-labelled v-H-ras protein. Two iodinated protein complexes with apparent molecular weights of 40 and 85 kDa were observed when a mixture of rat brain cytosol and [125I] ras was treated with the cross-linking agent disuccinimidyl suberate and subjected to SDS-PAGE. To assess the effects of cocaine, administered to the ewe, on the secretion of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), Plasma Renin Activity (PRA) and hypoxanthine in the fetus we studied 6 chronically cannulated sheep fetuses late in gestation. Foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) type 'O' was inactivated either with formaldehyde or binaryethyleneimine (BEI). Vaccines were prepared with inactivated virus incorporating aluminum hydroxide gel or mineral oil as an adjuvant. The kinetics of endogenous urea were compared during the last month of pregnancy, lactation, and a nonpregnant, nonlactating control period in Sardi sheep kept on a constant feed level. Urea entry rate estimated by injections of [14C]urea rose by 36% during pregnancy. Renal urea excretion was reduced by 40% during pregnancy and by 28% during lactation. Two-year old Alpine she-goats (n = 3) and Texel ewes (n = 3) were compared as to eating behaviour, rumination and volatile fatty acids (VFA) in rumen and blood.
