Interleukin (IL)-9 is a pleiotropic cytokine secreted by T helper (Th)2 cells and has been proposed as a candidate gene for asthma and allergy. Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is an unusual heart failure of unknown etiology that occurs during pregnancy or postpartum. Mirror syndrome is a characteristic of maternal edema subsequent to fetal and/or placental edema.
