The annual incidence of pancreatic carcinoma has been increasing worldwide, and the overall 5-year survival rate has remained at approximately 5%. We re-evaluated 30 autopsy cases histologically diagnosed as pancreatic carcinoma from 1994 through 2010 at Nippon Medical School Hospital. Information regarding treatment for patients with metastatic ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor (SLCT) has been extremely limited. We report a young woman whose stage IA, poorly differentiated SLCT was initially managed surgically 9 months earlier, and who presented with extensively metastatic SLCT. We previously reported on the outcome of 21 patients with stage IV advanced and/or recurrent tongue base carcinoma subjected to mTHPC-PDT. We continue to develop on the previous work by treating more patients with this unforgiving disease. PDT has shown to be a very successful minimally-invasive surgical tool in managing this pathology. Tumour-associated symptoms were reduced significantly. The overall morbidity and mortality following PDT, in this group of patients, were far less when compared with other conventional modalities.

A 60-year-old man underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy for left renal tumor (cT1bN0M0).The histopathological examination revealed Kidney cancer grade 3 pT1b. The following evaluations revealed multiple bone metastasis. The IFN-gamma with radiation therapy were performed. However the disease was progressive. So IL-2 70 million units per day 5 times a week started. The patient started to complain lower abdominal pain and watery diarrhea from administration day 28th. Blood test showed eosinophilia. At this point side effect of IL-2 therapy was suspected, then IL-2 was discontinued.

Epithelial ovarian cancer is frequently diagnosed at advanced-stage disease and chemotherapy is nearly always required. Optimally debulked patients may need adjuvant chemotherapy while, most of the time this chemotherapy will be given to those with advanced-stage disease. Also relapses will be treated differently whether they occur early or late in the course of the disease. This paper reviews medical treatment modalities according to stage based on published data. Maintenance and consolidation treatments are also discussed. Finally a brief insight into new therapeutic tools is also given.

We report on a rare case of substernal thyroid carcinoma extending into the posterior mediastinum of a 48-year-old man. The tumor was resected by partial sternotomy and a small anterior thoracotomy, combined with video-assisted thoracoscopy.
