INTRODUCTION: Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis is characterized by the presence of multiple gas-filled cysts in the intestinal wall, the submucosa and/or subserosa of the intestine. The term pneumatosis cystoides coli is synonymous with pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis when the disorder is limited to the colon. AIM: Outcome of hydrostatic reduction of intussusception (HRI) was analyzed according to specific radiographic signs to improve success.
METHODS: At our institution, a pediatric surgical team performs HRI using a standardized protocol. We reviewed 266 consecutive HRI performed from 1998 to 2008 according to patient demographics, symptomatology, parameters of inflammation (peak WBC, peak CRP), position of the tip of the intussuscepted bowel and an intussusception bowel ratio (IBR).

The purpose of this study was to determine and validate the optimum copper filtration for adult double contrast barium enema examinations. Entrance surface dose rates to polymethyl methacrylate slabs and corresponding image intensifier input kermas, were measured for various added copper filters. Image contrast was assessed using a Leeds TO.10 test object. INTRODUCTION: Colonoscopic perforation is a rare but serious complication of colonoscopy. Factors known to increase the risk of perforation include colonic strictures, extensive diverticulosis, and friable tissues.
