BACKGROUND: The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) plays a vital role in maintaining the stability of the elbow joint during overhead throwing activities. Stress to the UCL may lead to high-grade or full-thickness tears that require reconstruction or repair and lengthy rehabilitation in athletes. Workup of these injuries can sometimes reveal ossification in the ligament. It is unknown if ossification in the UCL affects postoperative outcomes.
PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether different preoperative ossification conditions of the UCL might influence various

Musculoskeletal pain was the leading cause of physical injuries and disabilities, and ranking sixth among the top ten diseases in terms of global burden of disease. Approximately 9.5 million working days lost. Office workers including bank workers are vulnerable group for work related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to prolonged sitting, computer work, repetitive tasks, static posture, and uncomfortably working conditions. In Ethiopia, the annual prevalence of MSDs among computer users ranged from 55.2% to 77.6%. Previous primary studies presented inconsistent findings. Therefore, this re

BACKGROUND: The ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) is essential for elbow stability during pitching. In professional baseball, the fastball (FB) is the most commonly used pitch, making postrecovery FB performance after UCL reconstruction (UCLR) a crucial aspect to consider.
HYPOTHESES: (1) Pitchers undergoing UCLR would show no significant changes in performance metrics compared with nonoperated pitchers with similar FB velocity and spin rate, and (2) no significant variance would be found in these metrics within the operated pitchers concerning their preinjury anthropometric characteristics and

OBJECTIVE: Arthroscopic release is effective for patients with shoulder stiffness, but the traditional inside-out procedure cannot effectively alleviate the mobility of some severe stiff shoulder and even cause itrogenic injuries sometimes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy and advantages of a modified outside-in shoulder release approach for severe shoulder stiffness.
METHODS: Included in this retrospective study were 15 patients (five male and 10 female) with severe shoulder stiffness who underwent modified outside-in shoulder release surgery at our hospital between

BACKGROUND: High-grade acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation injuries (Rockwood type IV or V) are surgically indicated because of complete disruption of the AC and coracoclavicular (CC) ligaments, leading to instability and pain. In surgical techniques that require a suspensory system, coracoid tunnel-related complications are not uncommon.
PURPOSE: To report subjective and objective clinical outcomes and complication rates of a modified coracoid tunnel-free CC sling technique combined with CC ligament remnant preservation for a minimum 2-year follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Valgus extension overload syndrome (VEOS) most commonly affects overhead athletes and consists of a constellation of conditions involving the medial, posterior, and lateral elbow, with the most widely discussed being ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries. Many athletes with UCL tears also have findings consistent with other VEOS conditions, though these are not consistently symptomatic. Given the high rate of concomitant pathology, many authors have recommended performing arthroscopy at the time of UCL reconstruction (UCLR) to diagnose and address concomitant VEOS pathology; how

PURPOSE: Despite the available classifications, diagnostics and treatment of acute acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) injuries are still vague and challenging for trauma and shoulder surgeons. This study aimed to evaluate the dynamic radiographic as well as clinical outcome of operatively and conservatively treated Rockwood (RW) type III and IV ACJ dislocations.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: All patients with RW type III and IV ACJ dislocations between 2009 and 2016 (n = 226) were included in this retrospective data analysis with a prospective follow-up examination. According to their injury classificati

BACKGROUND: The management of acute Rockwood type III acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation remains controversial, and the debate about whether patients should be conservatively or surgically treated continues. This study aims to compare conservative and surgical treatment of acute type III ACJ injuries in active sport participants (<35 years of age) by analysing clinical and radiological results after a minimum of 24 months follow-up.
METHODS: The records of 72 patients with acute type III ACJ dislocations who were treated from January 2006 to December 2011 were retrospectively evaluated

BACKGROUND: Although several studies reported good results of open reduction and internal fixation of displaced fracture of the adult distal humerus, few studies have specifically addressed the results of such surgical fixation in osteoporotic bone in the elderly.
METHODS: This study focused on AO type C fractures in the elderly by using 2 plates for fixation of the lateral and medial columns to reconstruct a stable triangular frame of the distal humerus. The study comprised 35 patients, and 32 were available for final evaluation at a mean follow-up of 24.5 months (range, 14-60 months).

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has proven to be an ideal technique for evaluating tendons and ligaments, which, because of their fibrous structure, have a low signal intensity on all sequences. Trauma and a wide variety of other conditions cause aberrations in the normal appearance of these structures, ranging from minor alterations in shape, size, appearance, and continuity to various changes in signal intensity within the tendon, tendon sheath, and ligament on different sequences. The purpose of this paper is to review MRI findings in patients with abnormalities of tendons and ligaments in
