A COM-B and Theoretical Domains Framework Mapping of the Barriers and Facilitators to Effective Communication and Help-Seeking Among People With, or Seeking a Diagnosis Of, Endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue resembling the endometrium grows outside the womb, causing severe chronic pain. People with endometriosis report difficulty in help-seeking and communicating with healthcare professionals, contributing to diagnosis delays and ineffective management. The present study aimed to identify barriers and facilitators to effective communication using the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) and COM-B model to inform behavior change intervention development. This study was a qualitative semi-structured interview and open-ended survey design. Thematic

Consuming 'God Juice': Using 'ethnopharmacological-connoisseurship' to situate trenbolone use and knowledge among image and performance enhancing drug communities.

INTRODUCTION: Trenbolone, a potent anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS), is used for its muscle growth benefits but poses significant health risks, including psychosocial issues. Existing research among humans is limited by lack of targeted investigation. This study addresses gaps in existing research by leveraging the ethnopharmacological expertise of trenbolone consumers. By engaging with the community's connoisseurship, we sought to enhance harm reduction strategies and foster collaboration between consumers, scholars and health practitioners. METHODS: An international sample of trenbolone co

Dealing with couple infidelity in romantic relationships: A group intervention feasibility study.

The extent to which group therapy benefits individuals who have experienced couple infidelity remains unexamined. In this study, a brief group intervention for individuals who experienced couple infidelity was designed, and the feasibility of the intervention was evaluated (i.e., acceptability; implementation; measurements' performance and, limited-efficacy testing). The final sample was composed of 20 women and 4 men (M = 29.95 years, SD = 12.3). Twenty-four completed pre and post assessments and 20 of these completed the follow-up assessment. At pre, post, and follow-up, participants respond

METHOD: Ten parents of children with eczema, ectodermal dysplasia, ichthyosis, and alopecia took part in a mind

"It just never ends": Childhood cancer survivors' perceived psychosocial impacts of recurrence and second cancer.

OBJECTIVES: Childhood cancer survivors are at risk of developing primary recurrences and new second cancers. Experiencing a recurrence and/or second cancer can be highly distressing for survivors and families. We aimed to understand the psychological impacts of experiencing a recurrence or second cancer and how this potentially influences survivors' engagement with survivorship care. METHODS: We invited childhood cancer survivors or their parents if survivors were ≤16 years of age from 11 tertiary pediatric oncology hospitals across Australia and New Zealand to complete interviews. We conduct

DESIGN: In-depth interviews (18 in total, 10 couples, 8 women, n = 28) were performed with patients who had undergone treatment with PGT for monogenic/single-gene defects (PGT-M) or chromosomal structural rearrangements (PGT-SR) between 2017 and 2019 in Belgium. Participants were asked about their own experiences with PGT-M/SR and about their viewpoints on PGT-P, including their own interest and their ideas on its desirability, scop

I did not scream. i could not; i was terrified. i just followed them. . .i blocked my mind. then they all raped me: A narrative inquiry on the onset of tonic immobility among women rape victims in Nigeria.

Tonic immobility (TI) is a common uncontrollable autonomic mammalian response to an extremely fearful situation. It is one of the most immediate devastating consequences of rape and remains poorly understood. While controversies over its definition persist among researchers, this also reflects on the care for and support to victims. The study aimed to explore and describe the onset of TI and the meaning attached to the experience among women raped victims in Nigeria. The study design was the qualitative narrative inquiry approach. Criterion and purposive sampling were conducted across four pos

'A challenge to my professional identity'- resisting the shift from over-management to self-management for back pain within an implementation trial: a qualitative study.

OBJECTIVE: The Enhanced Transtheoretical Model Intervention (ETMI) is based on behavioral models and focuses on guiding Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) patients to self-manage symptoms and engage in recreational physical activity. While there is promising evidence that ETMI benefits patients, it is unclear how challenging it might be to implement widely. This investigation focused on the perceptions of physiotherapists trained to deliver ETMI for CLBP. DESIGN: A Qualitative study comprised of semi-structured interviews (July to November 2023). Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed, coded,

Adult Patients' Experiences of Closed Reduction Treatment for Distal Radius Fracture in the Emergency Department - A Qualitative Descriptive Study.

INTRODUCTION: Distal radius fractures are common injuries managed frequently in emergency departments. While numerous studies focus on the surgical treatment of distal radius fractures, there is a lack of research about non-surgically treated patients' early experiences post-injury. The objective of this study was to explore adult patients' initial experiences following closed reduction treatment of distal radius fracture in the emergency department. METHODS: This qualitative study involved semi-structured telephone interviews with 21 patients who underwent closed-reduction treatment at 2 hos

Barriers and facilitators to medication-assisted treatment for cocaine use disorder among men who have sex with men: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Rates of cocaine use disorder (CUD) among men who have sex with men (MSM) are high and rising. Among MSM, cocaine use is associated with negative socioeconomic, medical, and psychological outcomes. There are no FDA-approved pharmacotherapy options to treat CUD, and psychosocial interventions demonstrate limited efficacy. While there have been numerous trials evaluating possible medications for CUD, there is a scarcity of qualitative data on the barriers and facilitators of medication-assisted treatment. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 participants enroll

Supporting families through paediatric brain tumour: Unmet needs and suggestions for change.

OBJECTIVE: From diagnosis and beyond, a paediatric brain tumour and its treatment impact the child and their family in a myriad of ways. While it is considered best practice to offer ongoing psychosocial support for all family members, there is little scholarly investigation of both families' experiences and the practical implications of offering such care. We aimed to explore families' experiences of paediatric brain tumour and their associated psychosocial health service needs. METHODS: Families receiving care at the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, for a child (0-18 y

PROCEDURE: We invited English-speaking AYAs (age 14-25 years) who were receiving treatment for advanced cancer at our single tertiary pediatric cancer center to

"The chameleon among diseases" - an explorative view of sarcoidosis and identification of the consequences for affected patients and relatives using qualitative interviews.

INTRODUCTION: Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic disease, with the lungs being the main site of manifestation. Although the exact etiology remains unclear, both genetic and environmental factors are being discussed. Diagnostic evaluation is challenging, and the management of chronic patients and assessment of their needs proves difficult, especially in the absence of targeted therapy. Studies on sarcoidosis patients have shown that quality of life is limited even after clinically measurable parameters have resolved. The question remains how patients and their relatives perceive medical care and th
