BACKGROUND: Early orthopaedic treatment with rapid maxillary expansion (RME) associated with facemask (FM) has been shown to be effective in correcting Class III malocclusions in children. Treatment with pushing splints 3 (PS3) has shown to correct skeletal discrepancies in Class III growing patients. However, the effects of orthopaedic treatment on the upper airways in children with Class III malocclusion is controversial.

INTRODUCTION: This study investigated the long-term effect and stability of skeletally anchored facemasks (SAFMs) with lateral nasal wall anchorage compared with conventional tooth-borne facemasks (TBFMs) in growing patients with a Class III relationship.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this investigation was to analyze the effects of RME and FM on the airway dimensions in Class III patients compared with untreated controls.

We report a case of a Colles' fracture on the arteriovenous fistula forearm of a maintenance hemodialysis patient treated with percutaneous pinning with the aid of Chinese finger trap reduction combined with cavity creation using a pediatric uromatic balloon with calcium phosphate cement augmentation. Multiple fractures of the axis are not common lesions. A retrospective study was performed to identify the different fracture patterns and to analyze the incidence of these injuries and their long-term behavior.
