PURPOSE OF THE STUDY When treating tears of the distal biceps brachii muscle tendon, we repeatedly noticed a difference between the preoperative ultrasound findings and the operative findings. The aim of the study was to retrospectively correlate these findings in order to determine the sensitivity of the ultrasound examination in everyday orthopaedic practice. RATIONALE: Clear cell sarcoma of tendon and aponeurosis (CCSTA) or soft parts is a rare malignant melanin producing tumor entity that is derived from the neural crest cells originating from soft tissues displaying melanocytic differentiation. Diagnosis of CCSTA is difficult as it is dependent on age, size, location, necrosis, calcifications, cystic degeneration, and local to distant metastatic deposits. These tumors have very poor prognosis with a survival rate of 5-10 years because of local recurrence, early to late metastasis to lymph nodes, lungs, bones, and liver.

INTRODUCTION: Cytology of giant cell tumour of tendon sheath (GCTTS) is often sufficient to diagnose this lesion and has been previously described in small series. The present study was undertaken to evaluate detailed cytomorphological features and differential diagnostic entities and pitfalls in the diagnosis.

Open ankle dislocations without fracture are rare injuries. Dislocation or interposition of adjacent tendons are a rare associated feature of ankle fracture-dislocation. We report an extremely unusual case of open ankle dislocation without fracture with concurrent tibialis posterior tendon interposition through the interosseous space that was detected incidentally on computed tomography. We highlight the clinical, radiologic, and intraoperative features to avoid missing similar diagnoses.

Previous studies suggested that degradation of contractile tissue requires cleavage of the costamere, a structural protein complex that holds sarcomeres in place.
