Six athletes, all engaged in running activities at the time of injury, presented with tenderness over the medial malleolus and ankle effusion. Three patients had a fracture line which could be seen on radiographs. These patients were treated by open reduction and internal fixation using two 4.0 cancellous screws. The other three patients had normal radiographs but bone scans showed increased uptake over the medial malleolus. These patients were treated with cast and immobilization. We believe that each of these patients suffered a stress fracture of the medial malleolus. We suggest that the po

(1) Background: The stability of implants plays a significant role in the success of osseointegration. The stability of the connection between the fixture and the abutment is one of the critical factors affecting osseointegration. When restoring multiple, non-parallel, and splinted implants, achieving a passive fit can be complicated and challenging. A new EZ post non-engaging abutment system of the BlueDiamond® (BD) implant allows a wide connection angle while achieving a passive prosthesis fit. This study aimed to confirm the new abutment system's clinical applicability by evaluating its bio

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Posterior distraction reduction (DR) technique with polyaxial screw fixation may fail to achieve sufficient central endplate reduction, potentially resulting in residual cavities, postoperative vertebral collapse and hardware failure. The biomechanical benefits of mixed screw types remain insufficiently explored. This study aims to evaluate clinical and radiographic outcomes of a novel transpedicular prying reduction (TPR) technique after axial distraction performed via the Wiltse approach using a sequential monoaxial-monoaxial-polyaxial screw configuration in patient

Oxycephaly is associated with raised intracranial pressure as a result of the fusion of multiple cranial sutures. We have performed an effective and less invasive cranial expansion by means of three-dimensional cranial distraction for the treatment of oxycephaly with suspicion of increased intracranial pressure. We describe two oxycephaly cases and the surgical technique of three-dimensional cranial expansion using distraction osteogenesis.

BACKGROUND: Mandibular body fractures are common maxillofacial injuries, often resulting from road traffic accidents. Optimal management seeks anatomical reduction and stable fixation. Recent advances highlight the adjunctive use of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and Titanium-Prepared Platelet-Rich Fibrin (T-PRF) to enhance bone healing. LLLT stimulates osteogenesis and angiogenesis, while T-PRF provides sustained growth factor release. This pilot study examines the synergistic potential of LLLT and T-PRF in improving bone regeneration and clinical outcomes in mandibular body fracture repair.

INTRODUCTION: Lumbar canal stenosis is a common cause of low back pain occurring in elderly population. It is treated with posterior decompression with or without fusion surgery. However, decompression can lead to iatrogenic instability in some cases, and if suspected, must be assessed intraoperatively and treated with instrumented fusion. If not addressed, it can lead to progressive degeneration and instability.
CASE REPORT: A 58-year-old male presented with severe low back pain and functional limitation 2 years after undergoing an L4 wide laminectomy for lumbar canal stenosis. While initial

Background. Large mandibular defects are considered difficult reconstructive challenges for oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Cell therapy, as an alternative technique, might increase the speed of bone regeneration. This study aimed to investigate bone regeneration in large defects of dog mandibles using allogenic adipose-derived stem cells on gelatin foam as a cell carrier. Methods. The tissue engineering phase consisted of the sampling of adult dogs' adipose tissue that can easily be isolated from adipose stem cells (ASCs) of the dogs, ASCs were cultured in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium

OBJECTIVE: Resorbable polylactic acid spinal implants have recently become commercially available. These spacers carry the advantages of allowing for clear visualization of new bone growth, eliminating the risk of pathogen transmission, and providing for consistent biomechanical quality. However, previously published reports on the use of these spacers have all utilized bone morphogenetic proteins to supplement the fusion. This report describes our early experience with the use of these devices for interbody reconstruction in anterior cervical discectomy with fusion.
METHODS: Twenty patients

BACKGROUND: Rodent models are commonly employed to validate preclinical disease models through the evaluation of postoperative behavior and allodynia. Our study investigates the dynamic interplay between pain and functional recovery in the context of traumatic osteotomy and surgical repair. Specifically, we established a rat model of tibial osteotomy, followed by internal fixation using a 5-hole Y-plate with 4 screws, to explore the hypothesis that histological bone healing is closely associated with functional recovery.
OBJECTIVE: Our primary objective was to assess the correlation between b

INTRODUCTION: Scaphoid is the most common carpal to be fractured (60%), caused by fall on outstretched hand, and proximal pole fractures are difficult to manage due to the high risk of non-union and osteonecrosis due to retrograde blood supply. Conservative management of proximal pole fractures leads to high rates of non-union; hence, different surgical techniques have been devised to address bone loss and optimize vascularity at fracture site to promote healing, such as vascularized bone grafting (VBG) and non-VBG. We report the use of proximal hamate as a replacement arthroplasty in the cont

Pycnodysostosis is a rare autosomal recessive skeletal dysplasia caused by cathepsin K deficiency and characterized by osteosclerosis and bone fragility. Recurrent low-trauma fractures and delayed healing represent major orthopedic challenges, particularly when medullary canal narrowing limits surgical options. We report the case of two brothers born to consanguineous parents who presented with short stature, characteristic craniofacial dysmorphism, acro-osteolysis, and recurrent fractures after minor trauma. The older sibling had the more severe skeletal phenotype, with 14 fractures involving

INTRODUCTION: Osteopetrosis is a rare genetic disorder characterized by increased bone density due to defective osteoclast function, leading to brittle bones prone to pathological fractures. The management of fractures in osteopetrotic patients presents unique challenges due to extreme bone hardness, narrow medullary canals, and increased risk of non-union or implant failure.
CASE REPORT: We present two cases of pathological subtrochanteric femoral fractures in young female patients with osteopetrosis. The first case involved a 30-year-old female with bilateral subtrochanteric fractures, mana
