OBJECTIVE: To review the clinical management of alveolar echinococcosis.
DESIGN: A retrospective analysis.
SETTING: A university-affiliated hospital in Turkey.
PATIENTS: Forty patients treated for alveolar echinococcosis between 1987 and 2000.
INTERVENTIONS: Curative resection followed by chemotherapy, or medical palliation with chemotherapy only. Palliative procedures such as bilioenteric or external drainage were done for cholestatic jaundice and liver abscess.

OBJECTIVE: To find out if lactulose can prevent the bacterial translocation that is induced by obstructive jaundice in rats.

MATERIAL: 50 male Wistar-albino rats.

The sandfly fever virus belongs to the Genus Phlebovirus (family: Bunyaviridae) and is endemically found in areas of South Europe, Asia and Africa. Two members of the Simulium damnosum complex, the Djodji form of S. sanctipauli (74.9% of the total catch) and S. squamosum (25.1%), were identified and both were mainly anthropophilic. This descriptive and correlational study aimed to investigate the relationship between preoperative levels of cyberchondria and death anxiety in liver donors. It was conducted with 158 liver transplant donors hospitalized in the organ transplant clinics of a Liver Transplant Institute in eastern Turkey.
