A rare case of primary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT) of the rectum is reported. A 56-yr-old man was referred to our hospital for further examination and treatment of rectal neoplasm. A physical examination and laboratory data showed no special abnormalities. Retroperitoneal liposarcoma constitutes an uncommon and locally aggressive malignancy. We performed a retrospective analysis of 10 patients (6 males; mean age: 63.2+/-11 years) with histologically proven retroperitoneal liposarcoma seen at our institution between 1999 and 2007. Thirty-eight patients with hard palate carcinoma and 82 with upper gum carcinoma received primary therapy consisting of radiation therapy alone or in combination with surgery. Fifty-three per cent of the primary lesions were successfully controlled by initial radiation therapy. Radiation therapy did not seem to give inferior results compared with surgery in the treatment of the primary lesion. The most important determining factors in the prognosis were the presence of cervical metastases, and bone involvement.

Forty-six thymomas, defined as neoplasms of thymic epithelium, were assessed in respect to histologic type, clinical manifestations and end results.
