Orbital cellulitis and abscess after fracture repair are rare. Ophthalmic infection with Eikenella species is even more unusual, but can be severe. We report a case of Eikenella corrodens infection in a 28-year-old man who underwent zygomaticomaxillary and orbital floor blowout fracture surgery 4 years before presentation. Eikenella species are often resistant to frequently used empiric antibiotics, and because of specific growth conditions, easily missed on standard cultures. Appropriate efforts should be made to identify and treat E. corrodens in atypical orbital and periocular infections.

Orbital infarction syndrome is a rare but devastating disorder resulting in sudden visual loss. A patient with orbital infarction syndrome due to orbital cellulitis after transcanalicular dacryocystorhinostomy with diode laser is described. This is an unusual case of invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast presenting as an orbital metastasis. A 70 year-old female presented with a gradually worsening blurred vision, periorbital swelling and ascites. BACKGROUND: Various approaches have been described and used for operating on lesions in the orbit. The approach selection is based on the pathology in the orbit and its exact location. This study was performed to evaluate the endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) for orbital lesions and application of intraoperative MRI (iMRI).
METHODS: Since 2006, the present authors have performed 614 endoscopic endonasal procedures. iMRI was used in 409 of these cases. Three orbital lesions approached via the endonasal route with a minimum follow-up of 1 year were analysed.

Duane syndrome is a dysinnervation disorder that frequently involves secondary anomalous eye movement, in particular, ocular retraction and the narrowing of the palpebral fissure on the adduction. A peculiar case of a 13-years-old child with persistent caruncular hyperemia following trauma to the right eye with a tree branch which didn't improved after several days of oral and intravenous antibiotic therapy. Closer examination revealed organic foreign body that was not evident on initial evaluation, computerized tomography with and without contrast nor on magnetic resonance imaging. After removal of the organic foreign body symptoms resolved.

Retinoblastoma is a rare intraocular tumor of childhood. Chemoreduction followed by laser or cryotherapy is the treatment of choice. Subtenon carboplatin injection is also an accepted treatment modality for vitreous seeds, along with systemic chemotherapy. Transient periocular edema, optic neuropathy and fibrosis of orbital tissues are the known side effects of subteneon carboplatin injection. We report a case of severe aseptic orbital cellulitis with necrosis and prolapse of the conjunctiva 48 h after the injection, which resolved well on only conservative management.

We report a case of infectious orbital cellulitis complicating a frontal sinusitis in a seventy-three-year-old patient. The onset of this orbital complication was sudden. A clinical examination and an orbital CT-scan allowed an early diagnosis. Despite an appropriate surgical and medical treatment, the patient retains an altered visual function. We consider the clinical causes and consequences of orbital cellulitis as well as their surgical indications.
