Treatment with histamine (10(-4) M) of cultured non-pigmented human ciliary epithelial cells led to a biphasic elevation of free intracellular calcium mediated by H1-receptors. The initial transient increase was due to Ca(2+)-release from intracellular calcium stores and could be blocked with a high concentration of verapamil (10(-4) M). Authoritative experience in the management of hypotonous cyclodialysis clefts is difficult to obtain because of their rarity. In this study, the authors describe nine patients with hypotonous cyclodialyses clefts: six patients were treated successfully with argon laser photocoagulation to the cleft surfaces; in one patient, cleft diathermy was used to seal an incompletely closed cleft after a single argon laser treatment; one patient responded to conservative management; another patient did not require treatment. We treated 40 eyes of 40 patients by using noncontact transscleral Nd:YAG cyclophotocoagulation to determine whether treatment 1.5 or 3.0 mm posterior to the corneoscleral lumbus was preferable. Thirty four trabeculectomy specimens from open angle glaucoma patients who had under argon laser trabeculoplasty as part of their treatment, were studied by scanning electron microscopy. Although much is known about the optics and mechanism of ocular accommodation in teleost fishes, there is to date no description of the neurons innervating the muscle of accommodation, the lens retractor. In 24 patients with malignant melanoma the clinical feasibility of immunoscintigraphy (ISC) with a Tc99m-labeled F(ab)2 fragment of an anti-melanoma monoclonal antibody was evaluated. A 20,000-D protein called purpurin has recently been isolated from the growth-conditioned medium of cultured embryonic chick neural retina cells (Schubert, D., and M. LaCorbiere, 1985, J. A study of 17 cases of Fuchs's heterochromia. Among these patients 10 had chorioretinal scar. In 3 cases the disease was seen after chronic cyclitis in a case after traumatism. Fuchs's heterochromia seems be in almost all cases a secondary disease. We do not know how a primary ocular disease can lead to Fuchs's syndrome. it is possible that this mechanism is autoimmune.

Cyclocryotherapy in the treatment of aphakic open-angle glaucoma (AO), aphakic angle-closure glaucoma (ACL), and neovascular glaucoma (NVG) was evaluated in 96 eyes of 96 patients. All patients had follow-up of greater than 12 months, with a mean of 29.0 +/- 2.1 months (+/- SEM).
