BACKGROUND: Autologous stem cell transplants in patients with hemoglobinopathies are limited. Previous reports used granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) for mobilization of stem cells; there are no reported cases undergoing plerixafor mobilization. BACKGROUND: Cancer is linked to defects in immunosurveillance. Vaccination studies using dendritic cells (DC) try to re-establish immune responses toward tumor cells. Tumor-derived products such as interleukin-10 (IL-10) have inhibitory effects on DC function, and tumor-bearing hosts exhibit a lower number of DCs, suggesting inhibitory effects of tumor-derived factors on the recruitment of precursor cells.

OBJECTIVE: To study the immunoregulation effects of Tiaomian No. 3 (TM3) for recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) caused by shortage of blocking antibodies.

US Oncology Research Trial 9735 reported that TC improved overall survival when compared to doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide in early-stage breast cancer. Two cases of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, including one death, occurred in workers at a facility producing indium-tin oxide (ITO), a compound used in recent years to make flat panel displays. Both workers were exposed to airborne ITO dust and had indium in lung tissue specimens. One worker was tested for autoantibodies to granulocytemacrophage-colonystimulating factor (GM-CSF) and found to have an elevated level. These cases suggest that inhalational exposure to ITO causes pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, which may occur via an autoimmune mechanism.

A 34-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of pancytopenia. She had been given a diagnosis of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura during her first pregnancy about 7 years earlier. Cell structure abnormalties are found in acute leukaemia and preleukaemic states.
