The Subcortical-Allocortical- Neocortical continuum for the Emergence and Morphological Heterogeneity of Pyramidal Neurons in the Human Brain.

Human cortical and subcortical areas integrate emotion, memory, and cognition when interpreting various environmental stimuli for the elabor … medial, MeA) nuclei of the amygdala with cells showing a triangular cell body shape, basal branched dendrites, and a short apical shaft with proximal ramifications as "pyramidal-like" neurons. Basomedial neurons also have a long and distally ramified apical dendrite not oriented to the pial surface. These neurons are at the beginning of the allocortex and t …

Cutaneous expression of Thy-1 in mycosis fungoides.

Dermal dendritic cells from eleven cases of mycosis fungoides (MF) (six patch and five plaque stage), two cases of pre-MF, and five specimens of normal human skin, were characterized immunohistochemically using a panel of antibodies including anti-human Thy-1, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1; CD54), endothelial leukocyte adhesion molecule-1 (ELAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), CD1a, CD2, CD14, CD18, CD34, MAC387, KP-1, EBM-11, factor XIIIa, factor XIIIs, and S100. Thy-1 expression in normal skin was limited to the microvascular endothelium and perivascular dendritic

Age-related hearing loss begins with gain, not silence: physiological compensation in dorsal cochlear nucleus fusiform cells during auditory aging.

Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is the most common cause of sensorineural hearing loss. The cochlear nucleus, the first central auditory str … orphologically, there was no change in FC soma shape or size. However, significant pruning of basal dendrites occurred between preweaning and pubescent ages. Interestingly, FCs alter their spatial organization of basal dendrites with age, likely due to the loss of auditory nerve input. Together, these results suggest that FC physiology and morphology are re …

BACKGROUND: Electromagnetic radiation is relevant to human life, and radiation can trigger neurodegenerative diseases by altering the functi … ence and Golgi-Cox staining analyses were utilized to investigate the structural damage of neuronal dendrites and the density of dendritic spines. Transmission electron microscopy was performed to examine how the radiation affected the ultrastructure of neurons. Finally, western blotting analysis and Quantitative RT-PCR were used to evaluate the expression …

Transfusion Medicine: New Clinical Applications of Cellular Immunotherapy.

There is now clear clinical evidence that adoptive cellular immunotherapy can eradicate hematologic malignancy and cure otherwise lethal viral infections. With this knowledge comes the challenge of improving the effectiveness and safety of the approach and of simplifying the methodologies required whilst still meeting appropriate federal regulatory guidelines. This review provides an overview of the current status of cellular immunotherapies and addresses how they may be implemented and the future directions they are likely to take. Trauma-induced Golgi-like staining of neurons: a new approach to neuronal organization and response to injury.

A new esterification-silver approach to the directed staining of the dendritic trees of traumatized neurons is described. Stained neurons co … ns, although labeled less frequently than dendritic arbors, are induced to stain just as rapidly as dendrites. The ability to visualize a large part of the dendritic tree after trauma allows the segregation of neuronal subtypes on the basis of their differential response to injury. Amphiphilic hyperbranched polyglycerol nanoarchitectures for Amphotericin B delivery in Candida infections.

Although Amphotericin B (AMB) is considered the most effective anti-mycotic agent for treating Candida infections, its clinical use is limited due to its high toxicity. To address this issue, we developed cholesterol-based dendritic micelles of hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG), including cholesterol-cored HPG (Chol-HPG) and cholesterol end-capped HPG (HPG@Chol), for AMB delivery. The findings suggested that the presence of cholesterol moieties could control AMB loading and release properties. Dendritic micelles inhibited AMB hemolysis and cytotoxicity in HEK 293 and RAW 264.7 cell lines while
