PURPOSE: To examine the feasibility of an automated 2-dimensional (2D) to 3- dimensional (3D) image registration system to simplify the navigational challenges faced in complex endovascular aortic procedures.
METHODS: An automated 2D-3D image registration system was used to overlay pre-acquired 3D computed tomography images onto fluoroscopy images taken during endovascular aneurysm repair. Right ventricular (RV) function is notoriously difficult to quantify. Patients with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) have decreased systolic performance. We measure regional RV performance using MRI with 1-dimensional myocardial tissue tagging. By tagging cine-MRI in two views, we measured regional shortening in 12 regions throughout the RV. We image 32 pediatric patients: 21 normal patients and 11 patients with repaired TOF. We establish a normal range for each RV region. OBJECTIVE: To assess the utility of machine learning algorithms for automatically estimating prognosis in patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR).
METHODS: We included 372 patients with ToF who had undergone CMR imaging as part of a nationwide prospective study. Cine loops were retrieved and subjected to automatic deep learning (DL)-based image analysis, trained on independent, local CMR data, to derive measures of cardiac dimensions and function. This information was combined with established clinical parameters and ECG markers of prognosis.
