Pure-type clear cell carcinoma (CCC) has been recognized as a distinct subtype of ovarian cancer, showing a resistance to chemotherapy and resulting in poor prognosis. Our aim was to evaluate the effects of complete surgical procedures followed by adjuvant chemotherapy for CCC patients whose tumors were confined to the ovary (pT1M0). Invasion of the visceral pleura is an important component of lung carcinoma staging, and in some studies is an independent prognostic indicator. Evaluation of invasion by H&E may be indeterminate. Renal pelvic carcinoma was induced in mice by giving N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl)nitrosamine (BBN). Initially, differences in renal pelvic carcinogenesis by BBN were examined in three male mouse strains: NON/Shi, which demonstrate spontaneous hydronephrosis with incidences of 10-30%, and DS/Shi and B6C3F1, which do not exhibit hydronephrosis. We report 2 cases of sarcomatous transformation of mixed germ cell tumors of the testis. Both patients received cisplatin-based combination chemotherapy. Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, chondrosarcoma and spindle cell sarcoma were the dominant pathological patterns in the metastatic sites. Nongerm cell malignancies in mixed germ cell tumors following chemotherapy may be more common than previously described.

Sixty-five patients with malignant melanoma metastatic to the thorax were evaluated retrospectively. Chest x-ray films showed abnormalities in 63 patients and provided the first evidence of dissemination in 42 of the 62 with widespread metastasis. Thirty-two evaluable patients with metastatic carcinoma of the breast received chemotherapy consisting of BCNU plus cyclophosphamide followed in 18 hours by Adriamycin.
