Deep learning and eye tracking: Convolutional neural networks provide converging evidence for experience-driven attention within visual search.

Eye tracking during visual search generates spatiotemporally rich but complex data. Traditional analyses often utilize simplified metrics (saccade landings, dwell time, etc.) that necessarily exclude a substantial fraction of the variance in the raw eye data. Here, we asked if deep learning might aid scientists in objectively incorporating such discarded data into analyses. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are supervised machine learning tools that excel at classifying biological data. We built several CNNs that learn from raw eye-position time-course data to classify the location of relev

MRI-based gross tumor volume delineation in high-grade glioma using a deep convolutional neural network.

OBJECTIVE: In brain radiotherapy, accurate target volume delineation is a key step in treatment planning. However, manual contour delineation can be time-consuming, labor-intensive, and subject to inter-physician variability. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a deep learning (DL)-assisted, MRI-based auto-contouring model for gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation in radiotherapy for high-grade glioma (HGG). In addition to geometric evaluation, the dosimetric impact of using DL-based segmentations versus manually delineated contours for treatment planning was evaluated. METHODS: A 2D ResU-N

Post-marketing safety concerns with foscarbidopa/foslevodopa: A pharmacovigilance study with disproportionality analysis based on FAERS.

Foscarbidopa/foslevodopa, a 24-hour subcutaneous infusion of levodopa/carbidopa prodrugs, is approved for advanced Parkinson disease with motor fluctuations. Due to limited post-marketing data, the association between this novel formulation and related adverse events (AEs), particularly infusion-related or neurological complications, remains underexplored. This study aims to identify potential safety signals of foscarbidopa/foslevodopa-associated AEs using data mining of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS). To quantify safety risk signals of foscarbidopa/foslevodopa, disproportional

Roles of the Neuregulin 1/ErbB4 Signaling Pathway in the Pathogenesis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that first manifests in the early stages of childhood. The exact underlying mechanism of ASD remains unknown, and its etiology is rather complex. Neuronal migration, cognitive development, and continuous neural plasticity are strongly influenced by the Neuregulin 1 (NRG1)/ErbB4 signaling pathway. Hence, the pathogenesis of ASD may be closely connected to dysfunction of the NRG1/ErbB4 pathway. According to our current review, either the activation or inhibition of this pathway can lead to the development of ASD, and GABAergic syste

Sex differences in the impact of nerve injury on locus coeruleus function and behaviour in mice.

Chronic pain often coexists with anxiety and depression, particularly in women. The locus coeruleus (LC), a noradrenergic nucleus, modulates pain and emotional states and shows sex-specific structural and functional properties in preclinical studies. Moreover, clinical evidence indicates sex differences in the experience of chronic pain and its emotional impact. These findings highlight the need to explore the LC mechanisms underlying sex-dependent differences in chronic pain. In this study, we examined the sex-specific role of the LC in chronic pain and its emotional and cognitive consequence
