OBJECTIVE: To microencapsulate diltiazem hydrochloride (DH) drug-resin to obtain obvious sustained release effect in vitro and in vivo.
METHODS: The drug-resinates were made by bath method. The drug-resinates microcapsules were prepared with the ratio of the concentration of coating materials being 1% and the ratio of drug-resin complexes to coating materials being 10:1 by emulsion-solvent diffusion method. The pharmacokinetic of the sustained-release DH microspheres in beagle dogs was carried out.

The goal of this research was to quantify emissions of carbon dioxide (CO(2)), nitrogen oxides (NO(x)), particle number, and black carbon (BC) from in-use aircraft and related activity at a regional airport. Previous fiber-shaped solar cells are based on polymeric materials or dye-sensitized wide band-gap oxides. Here, we show that efficient fiber solar cells can be made from semiconducting nanostructures (e.g. CdSe) with smaller band-gap as the light absorption material. We directly grow a vertical array of CdSe nanowires uniformly around a core metal wire and make the device by covering the top of nanowires with a carbon nanotube (CNT) film as the porous transparent electrode. Chironomid species are a vital component in many benthic and terrestrial food webs; they have an important role in the detritus cycle, and are an important source of food for many species. We studied how tributyltin (TBT) in brackish water sediments affect the composition of chironomid species communities. Microcrystalline cellulose II (MCCII) is a different allomorph of MCC that can be used as a filler and a disintegrant for direct compression. MCCII was studied as new pelletization aid with the aim to prepare pellets with a faster drug release than MCCI-based pellets. MCCII-based pellets showed an immediate diphenydramineHCl release profile comparable to that of Benadryl and a faster griseofulvin release than MCCI-based pellets. MCCII offers potential to use as an alternative pelletization aid.

Levels of cocaine and other psychoactive substances in atmospheric particulate matter (PM) were determined in urban environments representing distinct social behaviours with regard to drug abuse: night-life, university and residential areas. Three cities (with population>1 million and <0.3 million inhabitants) were selected. Mean daily levels of drugs in PM were 11-336 pg/m3 for cocaine, 23-34 pg/m3 for cannabinoids, and 5-90 pg/m3 for heroin. Using Cd(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O as a precursor and ethanol/water as the solvent, we synthesized Cd(5)(OH)(8)(NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2) nanowires and nanobelts through a simple solvothermal method. Unlike the conventional oil-water surfactant approach, the adopted method is biologically safe, simple and environmentally benign. The antifungal activity of amphotericin B (AmB) incorporated in three cholesteryl carbonate esters (CCEs), sodium cholesteryl carbonate, cholesteryl palmityl carbonate, and dicholesteryl carbonate, was examined to assess their potential for use in a dry powder aerosol. Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NP) on silica were produced in aqueous solution by deposition of silver on colloidal silica in a small cuvette using radiation from a xenon-mercury lamp. A technique utilizing the capillary assisted sieving capability of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to achieve fractionation of nanoparticles of small size distribution is presented.
