Self-criticism and rumination have been related to suicidality. In the present study, we investigated the extent to which different types of … al ideation link. The findings support a growing corpus of research which highlights the utility of personality and cognitive factors in advancing our understanding of the suicidal process. The theoretical and clinical implications are discussed.

The authors report the case of a woman with borderline personality disorder who developed a prolactinoma probably induced by amisulpride. This patient was treated with 300 mg of amisulpride per day for a delirium. Her brain MRI was normal. Four months later this patient developed a micro-adenoma (5mm) on the right side of the pituitary gland with amenorrhea and galactorrhea. Among 183 depressed patients participating in a randomized long-term treatment trial of fluoxetine and nortriptyline, 30 patients had borderline personality disorder (BPD), 53 had other personality disorders (OPD), and 100 had no personality disorders (NPD). BACKGROUND: Suicidal behavior is often correlated with other-directed aggression, which is partially mediated by catecholaminergic neurotransmission. Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is an enzyme involved in catecholamine inactivation. In this study, we examined the influence of a functional COMT (V158M) polymorphism on suicidal behavior and anger-related traits.
METHODS: This polymorphism was examined in 149 German suicide attempters and 328 German control subjects. Both groups were administered self-report questionnaires for anger-related traits.
