Fumes from a group of gas metal arc welding (GMAW) processes used on stainless steel were generated using three different metal transfer modes and four different shield gases. The objective was to identify and measure manganese (Mn) species in the fumes, and identify processes that are minimal generators of Mn species. The Fe(3+) chelating ability of some curcumin glucosyl derivatives (Glc-H; Glc-OH; Glc-OCH(3)) is tested by means of UV and NMR study. The pK(a) values of the ligands and the overall stability constants of Fe(3+) and Ga(3+) complexes are evaluated from UV spectra. Deficiencies in Cu, Se, and Zn impair one or more biochemical functions, and excess are associated with toxicity. Baseline studies on the Ghanaian population are scanty. The study was undertaken to determine whether significant rural/urban differences in the serum levels of Cu, Se, and Zn did exist. Direct observation of time-resolved emission spectra (TRESs) of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles in polymer solutions was carried out with picosecond resolution using a streak camera. OBJECTIVE: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is the most common oral ulcerative condition affecting 5-25% of the general population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the oxidative stress parameters in saliva of patients with RAS and to investigate the relationship among these parameters in either group.
