Radiostereometry (RSA) of the cemented Scientific Hip Prosthesis (SHP) reported excessive migration and predicted high failure rates. In a prospective randomized clinical trial we compared minimum 10 years results of the SHP (n=38) with the Omnifit-stem (n=37). Two-year bone remodelling, compared with dual energy x-ray absorptiometry and assessed in regions of interest A-D based on the 7 Gruen zones, showed better periprosthetic bone preservation around the SHP in all but one regions (P<.05). Osteoporosis is a common skeletal complication seen in patients with chronic liver disease. METHODS: Consecutive patients with SSc and an equal number of age- and gender-matched healthy subjects were screened for BMD, fat and lean mass by DXA scan. Clinical risk factors for osteoporosis, bone ultrasound of the heel, lumbar spine and hip bone mineral density (BMD), assessment of vertebral fracture by DXA, and microarchitecture evaluation by TBS (Trabecular Bone Score) will be recorded. UNLABELLED: This study examined the bone mineral density (BMD) of 46 (median age 16.3, 8-29) survivors of autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT).
