Dental stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles for oral tissue regeneration: Mechanisms, engineering strategies, and clinical translation.

OBJECTIVE: The regeneration of complex oral and maxillofacial tissues remains a significant clinical challenge. While stem cell-based therapies have shown promise, their clinical translation is impeded by safety concerns, immune rejection risks, and manufacturing standardization hurdles. Cell-free therapies utilizing extracellular vesicles derived from dental mesenchymal stem cells (DMSC-EVs) have therefore attracted increasing interest as a potential alternative strategy warranting systematic investigation. DESIGN: This narrative review, structured around a systematic literature search, crit

Resting-state intracranial high-frequency oscillations and human cognition.

In 59 drug-resistant epilepsy patients undergoing stereo-electroencephalography, we evaluated relationships between rates of 80-250 Hz high-frequency oscillations (HFO-Rs) and standardized neuropsychological scores. We also quantified how local HFO-Rs modulate functional connectivity among brain regions showing significant HFO-R-cognitive score associations. We hypothesized that regional variation in cortical HFO-Rs relates to domain-specific neuropsychological performance. We analyzed HFO-Rs in 6048 gray matter channels excluding epileptogenic and lesional cortices. Resting-state HFO-Rs were

Older Adults' Resting Oscillatory Alpha Power and Peak Frequency Track Fatigue Induced by a Listening Task.

OBJECTIVES: Listening fatigue seems to reduce the quality of life for people with hearing loss. However, it has mostly been measured with subjective questionnaires. The present study investigates neural oscillatory activity in the resting electroencephalogram as a marker of the development of listening fatigue. It was hypothesized that alpha and theta power and subjective fatigue would increase after, compared with before, a challenging listening task, and that alpha peak frequency would decrease post-task. DESIGN: Before and after completing an approximately hour-long task of listening to sp

Index of cardiac electrophysiological balance in patients with vasovagal syncope confirmed by head-up tilt test.

BACKGROUND: Vasovagal Syncope (VVS) is a transient loss of consciousness caused by reflex vasodilatation and/or bradycardia, typically triggered by orthostatic stress, emotion, or pain. It is the most common form of neurally mediated syncope, carries a benign prognosis, yet recurrent episodes impair quality of life and require risk stratification and tailored management. The Index of Cardiac Electrophysiological Balance (ICEB) is a novel index designed to quantify the ventricular depolarization-repolarization electrophysiological balance and exhibits a bidirectional relationship with autonomic

Instability of post-respiratory delta activity is associated with neurocognitive dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea.

BACKGROUND: Conventional polysomnographic severity indices poorly capture inter-individual vulnerability to neurocognitive dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Although respiratory event-related physiological responses have recently gained attention, whether instability of these neural responses reflects impaired cortical resilience and contributes to cognitive dysfunction remains unknown. METHODS: We performed a secondary analysis of baseline polysomnographic data from the Apnea Positive Pressure Long-term Efficacy Study (APPLES), including 1077 adults with OSA. Event-related EEG re

Design and development of a convolutional neural network based on human cognitive attention mechanism for automatic classification of leukemia.

Cancer occurs when healthy cells in the body grow abnormally and out of control. Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects White Blood Cells (WBCs) and can cause a lethal infection and early death. Identification and classification of different types of leukemia are performed manually and automatically. The doctors analyze blood samples under a microscope and consider any changes in the number and structure of WBCs as a sign of cancer in the manual method. It is a time-consuming, inaccuracy-prone process that depends on the expertise and skill of the physician and the type of laboratory equipm

Molecular Docking and Dynamics-Based Repurposing of Thalidomide and Lenalidomide for GSK-3β Inhibition in AD.

INTRODUCTION: Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK-3β) is a key serine/threonine protein kinase involved in several neural processes. Its overactivity contributes to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) through tau protein hyperphosphorylation and amyloid-beta (Aβ) accumulation. Thalidomide and lenalidomide, originally developed as anticancer drugs, have shown potential inhibitory effects on GSK-3β in vitro. In this study, we repurposed these compounds to design novel GSK-3β inhibitors for AD therapy using computational methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The 3D structure of GSK-3β (PDB I

Upper Limb Tremors Classification for Parkinson's Disease Using W-Band (76-81 GHz) Doppler Millimeter-Wave Sensing and Deep-Learning-Based Classifier.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder with an increasing incidence rate that significantly affects patients' motor functions and quality of life. Involuntary upper limb tremors (ULTs) commonly manifest unilaterally, affecting either the left or right upper limb. Clinically, ULT frequencies can be categorized into three distinct classes: low-frequency (<4.0 Hz), mid-frequency (4.0-7.0 Hz), and high-frequency (>7.0 Hz) tremors. These tremor motions are characterized by oscillatory or rotational (angular displacement) movements, commonly referred to as the micro-Doppler effect

Deep learning model using contrast-enhanced CT imaging features and clinical variables to predict surgical risk after hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: Accurate preoperative risk assessment is crucial for patients undergoing hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Conventional prediction methods are limited by the inability to capture complex relationships among multiple factors, and existing deep learning (DL) approaches focus on individual surgical outcomes. In this study, we developed and evaluated a DL model that integrates preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging features and clinical variables to predict intraoperative blood loss and major postoperative complications. METHODS: We analyze

The use of machine learning models for subdural hematoma detection: a single-arm meta-analysis.

Manual evaluation of non-contrast CT scans (NCTS) for detecting subdural hematoma (SDH) is time consuming, potentially inaccurate, and subjective to the expert analyzing them. In recent years, two deep learning (DL) algorithms have been popularly studied in this respect, namely convolutional neural networks (CNN) and U-Net architectures, the latter being a specialized type of CNN. We performed the first meta-analysis comparing various DL models for SDH detection. MEDLINE, Cochrane, Scopus, and Embase databases were searched from inception through December 2025. Studies evaluating ML model perf
