We present results on the amidation of aryl halides and sulfonates utilizing a monodentate biaryl phosphine-Pd catalyst. The spectral responsivity of HgCdTe detectors operating in the thermal infrared region was observed to drift slowly with time. The characteristics of the drift were investigated and were shown to have a different origin from the drifts previously reported by one of the authors. The purpose of this study is to determine the transmission properties of the anterior segment of the human eye as a function of age and relate those changes to possible consequences for retinal disorders. The enzyme inhibitors are usually designed by taking into consideration the overall dimensions of the enzyme's active site pockets. This conventional approach often fails to produce desirable affinities of inhibitors for their cognate enzymes. A method was developed for preparing N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS)-activated silica for use in immobilizing human serum albumin (HSA) within HPLC columns. The multi-metal-binding MT fractions in rat tissues after oral intake of cinnabar were characterized by hyphenated size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The application of terahertz pulsed spectroscopy within the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) recent process analytical technology (PAT) initiative is considered. As a case study the potency levels in paracetamol (4-acetamidophenol) and aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) test tablets have been recovered from the terahertz absorption spectra using a multivariate partial-least-squares (PLS) calibration model. Trace amounts of inorganic mercury (Hg(2+)) and methylmercury cations (MeHg(2+)) were adsorbed quantitatively from acidic aqueous solution onto a column packed with immobilized dithizone on microcrystalline naphthalene.
