Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), the most common type of B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), is categorized into two major subtypes, activated B-cell-like (ABC) and germinal center B-cell-like (GCB). PURPOSE: Angiosarcoma (AS) is a rare vasoformative sarcoma, with poor overall survival and a high need for novel treatment options. Clinically, AS consists of different subtypes, including AS related to previous UV exposure (UV AS) which could indicate susceptibility to DNA damage repair inhibition. Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare highly malignant skin tumor with a high recurrence rate. We report on the use of line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) for the noninvasive visualization of a recurrent MCC in the scalp. The use of LC-OCT enabled preoperative assessment of the depth and extent of the lesion, which was confirmed histologically. This case report illustrates the potential of LC-OCT as a complement to dermatoscopy and for improving preoperative diagnostics in MCC.
