In this sense, assessing the knowledge acquired by parents in pregnancy surveillance is of great importance. Since there are no studies on the subject in the period before the pandemic, we will only assess the knowledge acquired by parents in pregnancy monitoring. (2) For this reason, the aim of our study is to evaluate the knowledge acquired by parents in pregnancy surveillance. (3) This study is descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative in

Multilevel statistical analyses showed that the risk of experiencing sexual abuse had significantly decre

"Doing being a good parent" in the pediatric clinic: Parents' knowledge displays in advice requests on infants' everyday care.

Parents and pediatricians play pivotal roles in promoting a nurturing environment for children's growth and development, especially during the critical first thousand days of life. Given the challenges involved in infant care and rearing, parents often rely on pediatricians' professional support in a wide range of daily caregiving practices as diverse as complementary feeding, hygiene management, pacifier use, or sleep routines. Nevertheless, little attention has been devoted to the in vivo observation of how parents actually request advice on babies' everyday care, and how pediatricians atten

The Role of Formal Schooling, Literacy, and Health Knowledge in Addressing Domestic Violence Against Women in West Africa.

When "education" is cited as a solution for domestic violence, different aspects of knowledge acquisition are often omitted. This study uses 2019 Demographic and Health Surveys from four West African countries (The Gambia, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone) with a combined sample size of 12,480 women and generalized ordered logit regression to examine the effects of types of knowledge (years of schooling, literacy, and health knowledge) on domestic violence (physical abuse, emotional abuse, and control issues). The results suggest that literacy has the most reliable beneficial impact on domestic

Delivery of a post-natal neonatal jaundice education intervention improves knowledge among mothers at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal jaundice (NNJ) is a major contributor to childhood morbidity and mortality. As many infants are discharged by 24 hours of age, mothers are key in detecting severe forms of jaundice. Mothers with limited knowledge of NNJ have a hard time identifying these infants who could go on to have the worst outcomes. This study aimed to determine the effect of a jaundice education package delivered to mothers prior to hospital discharge on maternal knowledge after discharge. METHODS: This was a before and after interventional study involving an education package delivered through a v

Perceptions of reproductive risk among women with epilepsy of childbearing age.

BACKGROUND: Having children or planning to have children may raise many questions for women with epilepsy. Seizures and antiseizure medications (ASMs) impact contraception, fetal/early childhood development, and maternal health. Little is known regarding patients' perspectives about reproductive risk and how those perspectives influence reproductive decision-making. METHODS: As a quality improvement initiative, we distributed an electronic survey within our health system to women ages 21-45 with a primary diagnosis of epilepsy/seizures. We then performed an exploratory research study to inves

Educational Intervention Boosts Dietitians' Knowledge of the Safety and Approval of Low- and No-Calorie Sweeteners.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Low- and no-calorie sweeteners (LNCSs) provide sweetness in food applications that are suggested to support consumers' reduced consumption of caloric sweeteners and added sugar intake. Consumers seek guidance and advice on using LNCSs from healthcare providers, including dietitians and nutritionists. However, prior research suggests there may be inconsistent guidance on the use of LNCSs. The main goal is to assess dietitians' and nutritionists' perceptions and knowledge of LNCSs. We also evaluate the impact of educational intervention on the perceptions and knowledge of
