Web-Based Mindfulness Intervention for Reducing Perceived Stress in Health Care Professionals: Secondary Analysis of Moderators in a Stepped-Wedge Cluster Randomized Trial.

BACKGROUND: Health care professionals are exposed to high levels of occupational stress, emotional exhaustion, and anxiety-depressive symptoms. Digital interventions using mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches have shown promising results in improving psychological well-being in this population. The MINDxYOU program is a self-guided digital intervention designed to reduce perceived stress and enhance emotional regulation, resilience, and psychological flexibility. Although its effectiveness has been demonstrated, treatment response may vary substantially between individuals. OBJECTIVE:

Promoting health equity through health literacy interventions in educational institutions: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Disparities in health outcomes have been associated with inequitable access to health literacy and services. Additionally, reduced health literacy may lead to an unhealthy lifestyle, causing a decrease in quality of life and social inequities. Advancing health literacy is vital in educational organizations to curb gaps in social inequities. Adapting strategies to promote health literacy is essential for advancing equitable and effective educational organizations. Therefore, policies and interventions should aim to address any barriers that threaten inequities in the educational org

Clowning in care: long-term effectiveness of clown visits on residents' affect, resilience, sleep quality and functionality.

BACKGROUND: Clown visits are increasingly used as psychosocial interventions in long-term care settings. However, existing evidence is predominantly qualitative and/or short-term, with a lack of controlled longitudinal studies examining effects across affective, resilience-related, sleep-related, and functional outcomes. Moreover, the role of individual-based visit frequency remains largely unexplored. METHODS: This longitudinal controlled field study examined the effects of clown visits over two years in four long-term care facilities in Eastern Germany. The intervention group comprised nIG_

Why the Gap Persists: A Systematic Review of Sociocultural, Clinical, and Systemic Factors Driving Maternal Health Disparities Between Black and White Women in the United Kingdom.

Despite overall low maternal mortality rates in the United Kingdom, Black women are approximately four times more likely to die during pregnancy, childbirth, or the postnatal period than White women. This disparity has persisted for over a decade despite national initiatives. This systematic review aimed to synthesize evidence from 2010-2025 on sociocultural, clinical, and systemic factors contributing to maternal health disparities between Black and White women in the United Kingdom (UK). Databases such as MEDLINE, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Psy

When theory beats practice: the implementation of competency-based education at healthcare workplaces : Focus group interviews with students, mentors, and educators of six healthcare disciplines.

BACKGROUND: Work-integrated learning constitutes a large part of current healthcare education. During the last decades, a competency-based educational (CBE) approach has been introduced to reduce the theory-practice gap and to promote continuous competency development. Different frameworks and models have been developed to support CBE implementation in practice. Although CBE is now well-established, implementation at healthcare workplaces remains complex and controversial. This study aims to explore how students, mentors, and educators from different healthcare disciplines perceive the impleme

The Short and the Long of it: Timing of Mortality for Older Adults in a State Trauma System.

BACKGROUND: The impact of injury extends beyond the hospital stay, but trauma center performance metrics typically focus on in-hospital mortality. We compared risk adjusted rates of in-hospital and long-term mortality among Pennsylvania trauma centers. We hypothesized that centers with low rates of in-hospital mortality would also have low rates of long-term mortality. METHODS: We identified injured patients (age ≥ 65) admitted to Pennsylvania trauma centers in 2013 and 2014 using the Pennsylvania Trauma Outcomes Study, a robust, state-wide trauma registry. We matched trauma registry records
