In the management of epithelial ovarian cancers, imaging is used for cancer detection and staging, both before and after initial treatment. The decision of whether to pursue initial cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer depends in part on accurate staging. BACKGROUND: Desmoplastic malignant pleural mesothelioma (DMM) is rare histological subtype of diffuse malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), accounting for 5-10 % of cases. INTRODUCTION: Thyroid cancer represents 2% of all childhood malignances. Its incidence rises 1.1% per year. In comparison with adults, childhood thyroid cancer is detected in a more advanced stage, but with a survival rate above 95%. To explore the potential of tumor-specific DNA as a biomarker for head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC), we queried DNA from saliva or plasma of 93 HNSCC patients. We searched for somatic mutations or human papillomavirus genes, collectively referred to as tumor DNA. When both plasma and saliva were tested, tumor DNA was detected in 96% of 47 patients. Radiation recall dermatitis (RRD) is an acute skin toxicity caused by different anticancer or antibiotic drugs within a former completely healed irradiation field. BACKGROUND/AIM: The aim of this study was to elucidate why some patients with incurable breast cancer may survive far beyond our expectation.
