INTRODUCTION: The role played by deep vein thrombosis (DVT) as a cause of leg swelling in Sri Lanka is unknown.
PURPOSE: To study the prevalence of proximal DVT, value of risk factors and clinical features and attitudes of clinicians towards diagnosis and treatment of DVT among those presenting with leg swelling as the main complaint.

As a less invasive surgery of the shoulder, the mini-open repair was carried out from March 1997 through December 1998 in 22 patients (mini-open repair group) for all types of rotator cuff tears, except massive tears. The effective reproduction number, R, is a predominant statistic for tracking infectious disease spread and informing health policies. An estimated R = 1 is universally interpreted as a stability threshold distinguishing epidemic growth (R > 1) from control (R < 1).
