BACKGROUND: Intracoronary radiation with a rhenium-188 ((188)Re)-filled balloon is safe and efficiently reduces restenosis, but there is a potential risk of a (188)Re-filled balloon induced dissection. Little is known about the effect of radiation on dissection resolution and the late clinical outcome of dissection after brachytherapy.
METHODS: After successful catheter-based treatments of de novo or restenotic lesion, 256 patients were randomly assigned to the radiation or control group. The (188)Re-filled balloon system was designed to deliver 17.6 Gy in 1.0-mm tissue depth.

42 subclinical HPV related vulvar lesions have been studied by Southern Blot Hybridization and histological samplings. 15 women had normal Pap smears. Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia was present in 24 other women, 15 of them had HPV on Southern Blots. In this study, the effect of lead acetate (PbAc) and sinapic acid (SNP) administration on oxidative stress, apoptosis, inflammation, sperm quality and histopathology in testicular tissue of rats was tried to be determined. Strongyloides stercoralis hyperinfection causes high mortality rates in humans, and, while hyperinfection can be induced by immunosuppressive glucocorticoids, the pathogenesis remains unknown. In this article we describe a gouty caucasian male patient who had high levels of serum uric acid since 1970s. Serious adverse reactions to allopurinol discouraged its administration. We prescribed cyproterone acetate (CA) because of severe prostatic hypertrophy, associated with a suspect small cancer. The administration of this drug obtained persistent normalization of serum uric acid levels. Our observation, that needs to be confirmed in other cases, could suggest a possible new treatment for gout in male patients with prostatic disorders.
