No statistical difference was found between the migration indices of nickel sensitive and control subjects using the leukocyte migration inhibition test with two concentrations of nickel sulphate. The results contrast with the specific positive results demonstrated previously in the same subjects with the lymphocyte transformation test.

Cell-mediated immunity to Leptospira pomona was measured in goats by the leukocyte-migration inhibition test (LMIT) and microassay for stimulation of protein synthesis (SPS) with 3H-leucine. Humoral and cell-mediated immune responses (CMI) to leptospirosis were studied in different groups of human patients. Twenty patients were examined for studying specific cellular immunoreactivity in human trichinellosis. Serial leukocyte migration inhibition tests were carried out using trichinella larvae as antigen. The mean migration indices of the patients differed significantly from that of the healthy controls. Using a one-stage capillary leukocyte migration inhibition assay, we examined peripheral blood leukocytes from 97 patients with malignant melanoma, 194 pregnant women, and 123 non-pregnant donors for their reactivity with materials from fetal and melanomatous tissues. The leukocyte migration inhibition test (LMIT) was studied in 20 patients with farmer's lung (FL) and in 24 asymptomatic farmers. In the first group, the test proved to be 95% positive (19/20), whereas it was positive in only 44% (11/25) of the control group; this difference was statistically significant (p less than 0.005).
