BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The present study was designed to investigate the effects of prenatal food restriction (PFR) with postweaning high-fat diet (HFD) on glucose metabolic function in adult offspring.
METHODS: Pregnant Wistar rats were given PFR treatment from gestational day 11 to spontaneous delivery. All pups were fed by HFD after weaning. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) was conducted at postnatal week (PW) 20. Rats were decapitated in PW24 to collect liver and pancreas, and expression of hepatic insulin signaling genes were then quantified.

OBJECTIVE: Test D-methionine (D-met) as an otoprotectant from kanamycin-induced ototoxicity and determine the lowest maximally protective D-met dose.
DESIGN: Auditory brainstem responses (ABR) were measured at 4, 8, 14, and 20 kHz at baseline and two, four, and six weeks after kanamycin and D-met administration initiation. OBJECTIVES: It has been reported that 1,2-Dichloropropane (DCP) induced cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) in offset color proof-printing workers. However, exposure to DCP by inhalation or gavage for 2 year did not induce CCA in mice and rats. Myocardial infarction (MI) causes energy depletion through imbalance between coronary blood supply and myocardial demand. Adult male and female hamsters in long days (16 hr of light) were exposed to a 1 gauss 60 Hz magnetic field for 15 min starting 2 hr before lights off.
