Palmar pyogenic granuloma in pregnancy: a rare case managed with postpartum excision.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular lesion that commonly occurs in the oral cavity during pregnancy, whereas cutaneous involvement of the hand is rare. I report a 33-year-old gravida 3 para 2 who presented at 39 weeks of gestation with a rapidly enlarging palmar mass measuring ~3 cm. The lesion became friable and interfered with hand function. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a well-defined exophytic lesion confined to the superficial tissues without deep involvement. Surgical excision was performed four weeks postpartum under local anesthesia with sedation. Histopathological e

Rare Mixed Pseudoaneurysm and Pyogenic Granuloma of the Thumb Radial Digital Artery.

Pseudoaneurysms of the digital arteries are rare, with fewer than 20 cases reported. They typically result from partial vessel wall injuries due to trauma, repetitive microtrauma, or iatrogenic causes. Their rarity is attributed to the small diameter of the digital arteries, which makes complete laceration or thrombosis more likely than partial injury. We present the case of a 43-year-old man who developed a thumb radial digital artery pseudoaneurysm after workplace trauma. Initially misdiagnosed, the patient underwent unsuccessful bedside drainage at an urgent care center. Clinical examinatio

Labial pyogenic granuloma related to trauma: A case report and mini-review.

This paper reports a case of a labial pyogenic granuloma in the lower lip of a 15-year-old boy due to chronic trauma from the maxillary left central incisor. The case report is based on the CARE (CAse REport) Checklist developed by the Joanna Briggs Institute. A further aim is to present a mini-review about the link between labial pyogenic granuloma and trauma, through searching in three databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Global Health) using a predefined search strategy and keywords. The Cochrane Library and PROSPERO were also searched for published and ongoing systematic reviews, respectively.

Diode laser assisted excision of a gingival pyogenic granuloma: A case report.

Pyogenic granuloma is a non-neoplastic, exuberant, reactive lesion seen in response to local irritation or trauma caused by dental calculus, bacterial plaque, caries and restorations, with a strong predilection for the gingiva. It is among the frequently encountered oral lesions, occurring at a challenging oral site, the gingiva. Herein, we report a 71-year-old medically compromised Caucasian female who presented with a relatively large lobulated pyogenic granuloma on the buccal gingiva of the maxillary molar-premolar region. Total surgical excision was performed with an 840nm diode laser foll

Periungual pyogenic granuloma formation in a patient with complex regional pain syndrome.

Peripheral nerve injury has been associated with the development of periungual pyogenic granuolomas (PGs). We present the case of a 39-year-old woman with an eight-month history of periungual PGs in the setting of a four-to-five year history of a traumatic inciting event that produced symptoms consistent with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). Although recurrent, these periungual PGs have remitted after treatment with topical timolol maleate. This case exhibits an underappreciated association between peripheral neurologic abnormalities, which include CRPS, and cutaneous abnormalities. It a

Association study between clinicopathological variables and periodontal breakdown in gingival pyogenic granuloma.

OBJECTIVE: The aim was to investigate a possible association between the immunoexpression of interleukin (IL)-4 and clinicopathological parameters with the periodontal breakdown observed in gingival pyogenic granuloma (PG). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Paraffin-embedded samples of gingival PG (n = 46) were prepared for histological and immunohistochemical assessment. Demographic and clinical parameters were assessed by criteria based on age stratum, gender, smoking habit, evolution course, location, lesion size, macroscopic appearance, predisposing factors, recurrence, and periodontal breakdown. Oral capillary haemangioma mimicking pyogenic granuloma: a challenge for diagnosis and management.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a localised granulation tissue overgrowth, in reaction to mild irritation. The aetiology of the lesion is not known, though it was originally believed to be a botryomycotic infection. The clinical diagnosis of such a lesion can be quite challenging. The purpose of this article is to report an unusual case of benign tumour in an adolescent boy who was clinically diagnosed as PG and histopathologically as capillary haemangioma. PG being a benign lesion; surgical excision was performed and predisposing irritants were removed.

Presumed pyogenic granuloma associated with intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy.

To report a case of a presumed pyogenic granuloma at the site of multiple intravitreal anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) injections. Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections can be complicated by a localized reaction of the conjunctiva.

Epulis gravidarum manum: pyogenic granuloma of the hand occurring in pregnant women.

Pyogenic granuloma, also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a benign vascular tumor of the skin and mucous membranes. Whereas the literature describes pyogenic granulomas of pregnancy as occurring mainly within the gingival or oral mucosa, we present 5 cases of a histologically confirmed pyogenic granuloma on the hands of gravid women, each with no history of antecedent trauma. These tumors failed to resolve spontaneously postpartum necessitating surgical removal. We propose the term epulis gravidarum manum to describe this skin lesion.
