Intraluminal gastrointestinal haemorrhage is a common feature of benign leiomyoma of the small bowel. A case is reported of an ileal leiomyoma which caused free intraperitoneal haemorrhage. It is believed that such an occurrence has not been reported previously.

Splenic injury after thoracic surgery is rare and has not been reported following robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS). We describe a 52-year-old woman who underwent RATS left upper lobectomy. After discharge, she returned with abdominal pain and hypotension. Computed tomography revealed hemoperitoneum with signs of splenic injury. Emergent laparoscopic splenectomy confirmed splenic rupture. This case highlights that unrecognized intraabdominal trauma can occur during RATS; surgeons should exercise caution near the diaphragm and remain vigilant post-discharge.

Ectopic varices are a rare sequelae of portal hypertension and present in unique ways, which may not always prompt consideration. Furthermore, endoscopic interventions on venous collaterals in the setting of portal hypertension affect the portal system hemodynamics, which may further complicate the clinical picture. We report a man with decompensated hepatitis C cirrhosis who developed hemocholecyst complicated by perforation with hemoperitoneum soon after endoscopic variceal ligation of the esophageal varices in the setting of retrospectively discovered gallbladder varices.

A 35-year-old man died suddenly in a clinic waiting area after repeated visits for flu-like symptoms. At autopsy, hemoperitoneum, splenic capsular rupture, and splenomegaly were found. Microscopic examination, special stains, and immunoperoxidase studies revealed findings consistent with chronic myelogenous leukemia. Spontaneous splenic rupture is an unusual presenting feature of chronic myelogenous leukemia. The symptoms of leukemia may mimic those of other "benign" disorders and misdiagnosis may lead to catastrophic consequences in some instances.

We studied CT findings and Interventional Radiology including therapeutic procedures in 43 cases with abdominal blunt trauma, retrospectively. All of parenchymal organ's injuries, and injuries of duodenum & retroperitoneum were correctly diagnosed by CT. In 14 cases with only hemoperitoneum or no positive findings on CT, 4 cases were jejunal perforations, and remaining 10 cases were conservatively treated and relieved. We have to take care that the similar CT findings include the opposite results to need surgery and not.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. GISTs of the small bowel are rare, and often present with an abdominal mass and/or bleeding. Chemotherapy and surgery are the mainstay of therapy. Here, we discuss an unusual case of a ruptured jejunal GIST with hemoperitoneum and recurrence despite surgical excision followed by Imatinib treatment. Forty-five cases of ruptured small intestinal GISTs were identified in the literature. Most cases were in males and were found to be at the site of the jejunum.

The Extended-Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (E-FAST) allows clinicians to rapidly diagnose traumatic thoracoabdominal injuries at the bedside without ionizing radiation. Laparoscopic splenectomy is a gold standard for management of planned benign splenic pathologies. Spontaneous rupture of the spleen (SRS) leading to acute abdomen occurs in only 1% of all splenic ruptures. Laparoscopic splenectomy in traumatic and atraumatic rupture due to intra-splenic pathology is reported. We present the first reported case of laparoscopic splenectomy in a 23-year-old male who presented with hemoperitoneum due to idiopathic or SRS. The procedure was safely accomplished with slight modified technique and minimum usage of advanced gadgets.

Life-threatening splenic rupture is rare in neonates with severe hemophilia. There are only 3 cases of splenic rupture in neonates with hemophilia reported in the literature. We present the case of an infant, born to a hemophilia A carrier mother. The infant was asymptomatic until discharge at 48 hours of age, but presented on the third day of life with shock, abdominal distension, and severe anemia. Computed tomography of the abdomen confirmed the diagnosis of splenic rupture with hemoperitoneum. The infant recovered after extensive supportive care surgery and factor replacement.

A case is presented of a 29-year old woman who developed sudden onset of abdominal pain, vomiting, near syncope, abdominal tenderness, profound hypotension, and a late menstrual period. The patient was in good health and her only medication was zomepirac for musculoskeletal discomfort.
